70 Years is Enough Campaign: Nuclear Energy is Nuclear War EverydayPro Nuclear Call up to Clean up WiPP and FUkushima
Call-up to Clean-up Nuclear Sites
These images or something similar will probably stay on top until a) pro-nuclear people volunteer to work at nuclear waste sites (WIPP, Fukushima, Hanford, etc.) in droves, and b) the nuclear industry is shut down. Then, after b), there will still be the problem of a) the nuclear waste to be secured. We live on borrowed time. Let’s shut the nuclear industry down now!
Let’s hurry up people!

NRC-2015-0159 Changes to Buried and Underground Piping and Tank Recommendations 08/13/2015
NRC-2014-0044 Reactor Effluents 09/01/2015 (Extended)
NRC-2015-0057 Linear No-Threshold Model and Standards for Protection Against Radiation 09/08/2015 (Extended to November 19th): Wackos want to turn back the hands of time 100 years to say radiation is good for you. These wacko nuclear proponents appear to have never heard of immunity, inflammation, or anything else to do with the human body, though one alleges to be an MD. The US NRC, which corresponds to an “ideal-type” (i.e. perfect model) of self-perpetuating bureaucracy, and is worse than useless (i.e. dangerous), chooses to ignore the US government funded BEIR report! It is even worse than we thought. They are proposing up to 100 mSv exposure per year for the general population, pretty much guaranteeing that all women and most men get cancer, only from this source. Since cancers may come from other sources, everyone will have cancer and around half will die with cancers that have shortened their lives by 14 to 15 years.

BEIR says: “The committee concludes that the current scientific evidence is consistent with the hypothesis that there is a linear, no-threshold dose-response relationship between exposure to ionizing radiation and the development of cancer in humans.” (BEIR report, p. 323) (In other words increased exposure is increased risk).
the assumption that any stimulatory hormetic effects from low doses of ionizing radiation will have a significant health benefit to humans that exceeds potential detrimental effects from radiation exposure at the same dose is unwarranted.” (BEIR report, p. 315) (If you burn your hand on the stove this stimulates your immune system too. Do you but it back on the stove or jump in the furnace because it’s good for you? This is the “logic” of hormesis. And, radiation is worse because it can destroy the immune system, as well as causing cancer and other illnesses.)

NRC-2015-0160 “NuScale Power, LLC, Design-Specific Review Standard and Safety Review Matrix 08/31/2015” NuScale was a US government funded project which the US government dropped and somehow former DOE workers got the patent for and are still getting government funding! This is a major taxpayer con and sniffs suspiciously of fraud and corruption. Construction only (ignoring waste and fuel fabrication) makes it more costly than solar or wind: “NuScale was founded based on research funded by the Department of Energy from 2000 to 2003. After funding was cut, scientists with the program obtained related patents in 2007 and started NuScale to commercialize the technology. In 2011, the company’s largest investor had its assets frozen due to an investigation by the Securities Exchange Commission. The company experienced financial hardship, until new funding was obtained from Fluor Corporation and later from the Department of Energy… NuScale’s SMR designs are for 9′ by 65′ reactor vessels that use conventional light water cooling methods. Each module is intended to be kept in an underground pool and is expected to produce about 50 megawatts of electricity. It uses passive water circulation that can operate without powered pumps or circulatory equipment… The modules would be pre-fabricated, … and assembled on-site… The company estimates a twelve-unit NuScale plant would cost $5,000 per kilowatt“. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NuScale_Power

Katrina as disaster wasn’t about weather forecasting. Those with money got out. And, Katrina as a disaster was largely caused by Civil Engineering failures. And, a refusal by the City to evacuate its inhabitants who were too poor to get out; who lacked autos, and who could not afford hotel rooms. It should serve as a strong warning of how people will be treated in the event of a nuclear accident.

Sticking their necks out had costs:
Discussed at the above post: “In 1964 three civil rights workers were murdered on the night of June 21–22 in Neshoba County, Mississippi. They were James Earl Chaney from Meridian, Mississippi, and Andrew Goodman and Michael “Mickey” Schwerner from New York City, who were abducted, shot at close range and killed by members of the local White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, the Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office, and the Philadelphia Police Department of that city in Mississippi. Radiation is dangerous for bees, not just pesticides. E.ON. moves on to renewables in the US, while trying to evade responsibility for its nuclear waste in Germany. Fires and water shortages – no place for nuclear reactors, or waste. Nuclear reactors and waste guzzle and permanently pollute water. Yet, the Middle East is trying to get nuclear reactors.

No we weren’t on vacation. This is truly a saga. It is also frightening. Italian “researcher” from the Naples area triangle of death, where the mafia dumped radioactive and toxic waste and people are sick and dying from it, wrote the US NRC in support of 100 mSv PER YEAR of radiation for Americans! 100 mSv per year will pretty much assure that everyone gets cancer in the US, from this source alone, and around half will die around 15 years sooner, i.e. around retirement. What is his agenda? Who asked him to comment? Who is funding this? And, more: https://miningawareness.wordpress.com/2015/08/22/us-nrc-spreading-the-italian-triangle-of-death-to-america-refuse-omerta-remember-to-comment-by-september-8th/

Dilution doesn’t work! Whether lead, or radionuclides, the contaminants go someplace. They may go downstream, follow the ocean currents, or sink to bottom: “Dilution has gradually diminished concentrations of contaminants such as arsenic, mercury and lead. But experts say deposits of heavy metals have settled into river sediments, where they can be churned up and unleash a new wave of pollution when storms hit or rivers run at flood stage.” (Reuters, Aug. 13, 2015)

Many radionuclides eventually become lead. Most radionuclides act as chemical poisons, like lead, as well as radiological poisons. There is even radioactive lead! With spills, such as the one from this old gold mine, dumping large amounts of lead into the environment, will the US government declare that lead is good for you? “Lead has been listed as a pollutant of concern to EPA’s Great Waters Program due to its persistence in the environment, potential to bioaccumulate, and toxicity to humans and the environment.” http://www.epa.gov/ttnatw01/hlthef/lead.html What happens to this mine pollution? Hiroshima must be engraved in our memories: It’s a catastrophe even more dramatic than natural disasters, because it’s man-made. To repeat it, by showing the same disregard for human life in nuclear power stations, is the worst betrayal of the memory of the victims of Hiroshima… “(Kenzaburo Oe)

Atomic Bomb in the Context of World War II
I believe the fact that human beings created nuclear weapons is a crime of all humanity. However, I am also aware of the fact that it was said within the time of World War II that Nazi Germany was trying to perhaps develop nuclear weapons,… I do believe that Japan also bears responsibility for World War II. This war, which so many large powers were involved in, caused great suffering for people all over the world, including people of Japan and especially people of Asia. And it is a reality that within this immense war, nuclear weapons were created and in reality used… it is also a fact the United States did drop the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And I believe that this is something that humanity should not be proud of. However, while remembering this, we also need to, at the same time, remember what Japan and what Nazi Germany was responsible for during the war also, and when we are recording history, ensure that we record both of these realities together.” (Kenzaburo Oe) Read the entire interview here: https://miningawareness.wordpress.com/2015/08/07/japanese-nobel-laureate-kenzaburo-oe-on-70th-anniv-of-us-atomic-bombings-of-hiroshima-and-nagasaki/
