US House Passed Resolution to Consider Bills for Aid to Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan; Roll Call Vote

Maybe this will be a return to what Americans want: politicians who vote according to the bill proposed and not according to a Leninist communist-style party-line vote, as has been the case in recent years.

The House of Representatives took a step towards approving aid to Ukraine April 19, 2024, 21:08 By Artem Malinovsky Dialog.UA: https://www.dialog.ua

An important vote was held in the lower house of the US Congress on the issue of funding for Ukraine. The US House of Representatives has advanced towards a major vote to approve new aid to Ukraine. On Friday, April 19, Members of Congress approved the rule on foreign aid rule, opening debate on four bills introduced by Speaker Mike Johnson, including a project on financing Ukraine. 316 legislators voted for the corresponding decision, The Hill reports. https://thehill.com/homenews/house/4604948-house-advances-ukraine-israel-aid-as-dems-help-speaker-johnson-gop/

This vote precedes the final adoption of the bills, the final vote on which is scheduled to take place on April 20. Today’s decision means that the main procedural obstacles along this path have been passed.

The article notes that a bipartisan vote will likely intensify the confrontation between Johnson and the right-wing radical group in the Republican Party, which is even threatening the speaker with removal for introducing a Ukraine aid package without reference to measures to strengthen the US border. However, despite all the vicissitudes, Johnson’s position is still safe – the Democrats are ready to stand up for the speaker, journalists state. In addition, the chairman of the House of Representatives enjoys the support of former US President Donald Trump.

Earlier it was reported that representatives of the Democratic Party are ready to vote for bills introduced by Johnson. https://www.dialog.ua/world/293490_1713471745

In addition, Trump, in his first public comment since Johnson’s decision to put the issue of financing Ukraine to a vote, sharply addressed Europe, calling on the Europeans to match the United States in the volume of assistance provided to Kyiv. https://www.dialog.ua/world/293494_1713473744

It’s insane that these members of the US Congress won’t allow the bills to move forward for a vote! Are they really all opposed to all three bills? It’s not just Republicans.

There are also non-voting members of the US Congress, i.e. those who aren’t even pretending to do their job.
