Monkeypox was first noted in humans in 1970. A new outbreak in Nigeria started in 2017. There have been a total of 9 deaths in Nigeria of monkeypox from Sept 2017- May 29th 2022. This is apparently from confirmed cases of 247. This is a 3.6% case fatality rate. There have been 578 suspected cases. Russia making accusations against Nigeria, AND Russia having previously discussed the use of monkeypox as a bioweapon, suggests that Russia may be behind the sudden spread of monkeypox outside of Africa. As well, pro-Kremlin alt-media is pretending that monkeypox is a non-issue – probably so that people reject needed minimal precautions. Whether or not Russia has weaponized monkeypox, as they planned in the late 1980s, they are weaponizing information left and right.

Not only does Russia have nuclear weapons, it has one of two official stores of smallpox, as well as other dangerous pathogens. These may include weaponized viruses. Monkeypox is related to smallpox, and the smallpox vaccine offers some protection. It is estimated that by 1990, Russia’s VECTOR could produce two tons of weaponized smallpox per year. Smallpox is still stored at Russia’s VECTOR facility.

According to Ken Alibek, former first deputy director of the bio weapons program of the Soviet Union, by the late 1980s, in the Soviet Union “there was significant discussion of the possible use of monkeypox as a biological weapon instead of smallpox,” as reported by UPI in 2002. Russia’s #1 propaganda tool is best understood as accusing others of what they themselves are doing/have done: “Who smelt it dealt it” (“The trick is to pin the blame on someone else, often by means of deception…”) [1] In the case of monkeypox, Russia said it, so it spread it? Furthermore, Russia has used conservative anger about homosexuality to make inroads among conservatives. If anyone intentionally spread monkeypox amongst homosexuals, it would be Russia. If anyone weaponized monkeypox, it would clearly be Russia. However, the promiscuous lifestyle of certain male homosexuals, such as the “gay bathhouse culture” makes for a disease breeding ground. A recent report on social media has come to our attention, said to have been released by the Chief of Russian Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Force, containing allegations: That “there are four US-controlled biological laboratories operating in Nigeria”. That “WHO reports that the Monkeypox (MPX) virus responsible for outbreaks in Europe and elsewhere was imported from Nigeria where the United States of America deployed its biological infrastructure. In order words, MPX virus is generated in these laboratories”.

The statement is not backed by any evidence. The designation and activities of Nigerian public health laboratories are known to the supervising authorities, most of the laboratories having been procured and set up by the Federal Government in all 36 States and FCT for diagnostic purposes, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and other infectious diseases.

Some other laboratories are dedicated to the very successful HIV control program, managed by the Federal Government and her Partners, based on larger and longstanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation in public health, including prevention, diagnosis, surveillance, and control of diseases.

As a rule, Nigeria welcomes scientific cooperation with all foreign countries, and has received material support from the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan etc, and also discussed vaccine production with Russia. Collaboration between Nigeria and the United States has provided opportunities for technical assistance, capacity building, provision of equipment and field hospitals at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, and funds to support health programmes, like HIV/AIDS, malaria elimination.

Smallpox vaccine, which is around 85-87% effective against monkeypox, can be given post-exposure. Those who were previously vaccinated, which are generally those in their mid-50s and older, should be largely immune to monkeypox. It’s based on the original vaccines but appears to be safer, as it’s non-replicating. It’s NOT an experimental mRNA or DNA viral vector vaccine. It is worth noting that RW Malone worked on a smallpox vaccine for Dynport, which wasn’t chosen for further research. This was apparently the CCSV vaccine which was adapted to replicate in MRC-5 cells. It was not chosen for further research for unknown reasons.
