Case 1:21-mj-00331-GMH Document 1-1 Filed 03/23/21 https://extremism.gwu.edu/sites/g/files/zaxdzs2191/f/Evan%20Neumann%20Statement%20of%20Facts.pdf

Evan Neumann’s father, Claus Neumann (1929-2011), was an “enthusiastic leader in the Hitler Youth”. https://archive.ph/witv9 However, his father appears to have remained in Communist East Germany until 1949. This suggests that he may have flipped from Hitler Youth to Stasi/KGB to save his skin. Only in 1949 did he go to Franco’s fascist Spain, and then on to the United States. Running hotels is a good way to spy, which raises the question of why the USA allowed people from India to buy up most of its motels-hotels.

Evan Neumann looks like an agent provocateur, maybe working for Russia, and yet wasn’t in jail, and even managed to leave the USA and escape to Russia’s ally Belarus: “I feel safe here!” A U.S. citizen has been granted refugee status in Belarus”, March 2022: https://youtu.be/1wUFebYu3Ek

Evan Neumann didn’t graduate from high school and while others went to college, he “lived around central and Eastern Europe… in cities including Dresden, Munich, Prague, Moscow and Kyiv.” (See: “On the lam: Santa Rosa native and Capitol rioter now seeking political asylum in Belarus”, by Austin Murphy, The Press Democrat, December 31, 2021 https://web.archive.org/web/20220407034952/https://www.pressdemocrat.com/article/news/on-the-lam-santa-rosa-native-and-capitol-rioter-now-seeking-political-asyl/?artslide=1 )
Dresden is where Putin worked, apparently as a KGB-Stasi interface.

He was born on June 22, 1972, so he’s not a young guy and he grew up during the Cold War. He was almost 50 years old at the time of the US Capitol riots! If he went to eastern Europe and Moscow instead of high school and college, then that means that he was there ca 1988, 1989 – 1992: https://www.fbi.gov/wanted/additional/evan-neumann/@@download.pdf Indeed, he was apparently in Moscow in 1992 or maybe before. The reference says that he was in Moscow, then USSR, in 1992, but the USSR was no longer in existence in 1992: https://archive.ph/9fAd2

However, since the guy seems to like riots, there was a pro-communist riot in 1992: “Anti-Yeltsin Demonstrators Clash With Moscow Police” by Serge Schmemann, February 24, 1992 https://web.archive.org/web/20150526055924/https://www.nytimes.com/1992/02/24/world/anti-yeltsin-demonstrators-clash-with-moscow-police.html Did he stay on for these events?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1993_Russian_constitutional_crisis

The above news article and the FBI Statement of Facts refer to his LinkedIn page where he apparently alleges he was present in Ukraine during the Orange Revolution. They appear to blindly accept this as fact, whereas people can write whatever they please on LinkedIn: “A review of Neumann’s LinkedIn profile shows that he attended the Ukrainian Orange Revolution in 2004 and 2005. In the photos and videos described above, NEUMANN is seen wearing an orange and yellow scarf. Open source research reveals that a scarf commemorating the Ukrainian Orange Revolution is similar in appearance to the scarf worn by Neumann at the Capitol.” (Case 1:21-mj-00331-GMH Document 1-1 Filed 03/23/21 Page 12 of 16). https://extremism.gwu.edu/sites/g/files/zaxdzs2191/f/Evan%20Neumann%20Statement%20of%20Facts.pdf

Was he really there or was this a means for his Russian handlers to implicate Ukraine? Did he really keep his scarf in such good shape for 16 years and then wear it to the US Capitol? If he was at the Orange Revolution, then which side was he on? As a Russian FSB or SVR agent provocateur? It’s unprofessional for the FBI to write that his “LinkedIn profile shows”, rather than “claims” or “alleges”. The DOJ normally writes “allege” and “accused” even when it’s known that someone is guilty.

It is more likely that Evan Neumann bought this scarf online for $14.99. While they are now out of stock, they still had them in 2021: “WE ARE UNDEFEATED ! SCARF OF UKRAINIAN ORANGE REVOLUTIONhttps://web.archive.org/web/20210228201944/http://www.ukrainianmusic.net/ukrainian_orange_revolution_shop__ukrainian_scarfs__ukrainian_sportswear__sport_shop_en_696prod.html

One of the people who attended high school with him told “The Press Democrat” that he was “Typical private school rich kid. Fairly arrogant”. In 2007, police in Santa Rosa California found that Evan Neumann was growing 179 marijuana plants and had a pound of processed marijuana in his home. He alleged that it was for bipolar disorder and “was sentenced to 30 days in jail and three years probation….” [More likely the marijuana contributed to bipolar disorder.] https://web.archive.org/web/20220407034952/https://www.pressdemocrat.com/article/news/on-the-lam-santa-rosa-native-and-capitol-rioter-now-seeking-political-asyl/?artslide=1

Evan’s father, Claus, was a literal Nazi who was born Nov. 8, 1929 in Marienburg, Germany (now Poland). While many fled ahead of the Russian Army in 1945, Claus Neumann “and his father stayed behind to help his father’s factory employees escape”, according to his family. In 1949, Claus was allegedly put in jail for 22 days after illegally crossing from communist East Germany to West Germany. He then went to work in fascist Spain and Switzerland – both of which used their neutrality to help Nazi Germany. In 1953 he moved to Palm Springs, from Spain, as a butler to an American couple. He first married Barbara Medialle in 1959, only to divorce her in 1969. See: “Founder of Los Robles Lodge dies in Santa Rosa” March 6, 2011 https://web.archive.org/web/20211122204916/https://www.pressdemocrat.com/article/news/founder-of-los-robles-lodge-dies-in-santa-rosa/

According to a formal obituary, Evan’s father, Claus Neumann, was “an enthusiastic leader in the Hitler Youth. He allegedly fled the Soviets twice. He moved to the US as a butler in 1953. He and a man named Tony Vicini opened Los Robles Lodge in Santa Rosa California in 1962. Another business partner was Kirk Veale with whom he re-opened Hotel La Rose in 1990. Who were “his Scorpio traveling companions”, mentioned in the obituary? His wife is named Debbie and their three children include Evan Neumann. One child is apparently named “Sasha”. Sasha is a slavic and frequent Russian name. Claus Neumann had siblings in Germany at the time of his death in 2011: Gerd and Dorle Neumann of Celle, Elga Rombey of Tecklenberg-Leeden, and Inge Neumann of Osnabruck. (See Press Democrat from Mar. 20 to Mar. 28, 2011 Legacy-Obit https://archive.ph/witv9 ) All of these towns were in West Germany during the Cold War

His father wrote a book: Claus “Neumann captures his fascinating story in a candid memoir that first details his idyllic childhood and then charts his progress as he grows from enthusiastic student, patriot, and member of Hitler Youth, to a disillusioned teen defending his homeland. He inevitably becomes a refugee who flees the Russians from two separate homes before reaching freedom in the West. Along the way, he smuggles, works as a cook’s apprentice simply to eat, and serves time as a prisoner in solitary confinement in one of the most notorious political prisons in East Germany.“ (“Farewell Marienburg”, August 17, 2007 by Claus Neumann https://www.amazon.com/Farewell-Marienburg-Claus-Neumann/dp/0595895891 )

The strange irony is that ethnic Germans were forced out of Marienburg, after World War II, and it was given to Poland. Eastern Poland was given to Belarus. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kreis_Marienburg_(West_Prussia) Poland was basically shifted west. It would be interesting to know if Evan Neumann has a German, Polish, or other secondary citizenship, which facilitated his escape.

Putin’s early years

An example of an East German who changed from Hitler Youth-SS to KGB agent is described, below

Excerpts from “CIA Files Relating to Heinz Felfe, SS officer and KGB Spy” by Norman J. W. Goda Ohio University”
statements to the CIA by Soviet defectors and by Felfe’s own colleagues suggested that the Soviets after the war systematically hired former SS officers for intelligence purposes, using their criminal records against them for continued leverage.”

“Heinz Felfe was born in Dresden in 1918. He joined the Hitler Youth in 1931 before the Nazis came to power, he joined the SS in 1936 at age 17, and he became a commissioned SS officer in 1943. During the war Felfe did criminal police work in eastern Germany and in 1943 he joined the SS Foreign Intelligence branch, the SD (Sicherheitsdienst), stationed first in Switzerland and toward the end of the war in the Netherlands. His superiors stated that he had fine capabilities (he was fluent in English) and a strong work ethic. And there was, said one SS report, “no doubt concerning his political reliability.”

On the other hand Felfe had egoistic tendencies, often stating that he was destined for greater responsibilities.3 After the war in July 1945 he straightforwardly told his British captors in the Netherlands that he had been “an ardent Nazi.”4

Recruitment into the KGB:

From 1947 to 1950 Felfe worked for British intelligence, reporting on communist party activities in the Cologne area. The British dropped Felfe on the well-founded suspicion that he was also working for the Soviets. Later statements to the CIA by Soviet defectors and by Felfe’s own colleagues suggested that the Soviets after the war systematically hired former SS officers for intelligence purposes, using their criminal records against them for continued leverage.

The 1969 CIA report posited that:

“The spotting of people like Heinz Felfe by the Soviet Union was not accidental, but the result of a well-targeted, well-developed recruitment campaign directed against former police and intelligence officers of the Nazi Reich. The thesis was simple.… Some of these people might be susceptible to a Soviet approach because of their general sympathies. Others, such as former Elite Guard (SS) and Security Service (SD) members, many of whom were now war criminals able to make their way only by hiding a past which had once put them among the elite, would be vulnerable to blackmail.“

Felfe and other former SS colleagues from Dresden seem to have been easy recruits thanks partly to their bitterness toward the Allies for the firebombing of that city in February 1945. One of Felfe’s Dresden colleagues from the SD, Hans Clemens, began working for the Soviets in 1949. Felfe had given Clemens reports from the West while still working for the British, but seems not to have become a full blown Soviet agent until September 1951 when he received the code-name “Paul.”

In November the same year, Felfe secured a job in the Counter-Intelligence section of the Gehlen Organization – the West German Intelligence agency under the command of former Hitler general Reinhard Gehlen, originally sponsored by the US Army and then by the CIA. Felfe quickly moved up the ladder in the Gehlen Organization, taking charge of counter-intelligence against the Soviets in 1955. Thus the head of the West German office charged with countering Soviet espionage in West Germany was himself a Soviet agent. Felfe’s superiors in the Gehlen Organization, many of whom had also worked for Nazi criminal organizations such as the Gestapo and Secret Field Police, were themselves Soviet agents, thus making it easier for Felfe to advance in the organization…https://sgp.fas.org/eprint/goda.pdf https://ia800206.us.archive.org/19/items/CIAFilesRelatingtoHeinzFelfeSSOfficerandKGBSpy/CIA%20Files%20Relating%20to%20Heinz%20Felfe%2C%20SS%20Officer%20and%20KGB%20Spy_djvu.txt https://archive.org/details/CIAFilesRelatingtoHeinzFelfeSSOfficerandKGBSpy

Abstract
The Ukrainian opposition faced one of the greatest degrees of state-backed violence in the second wave of democratization of post-communist states with only Serbia experiencing similar cases of assassinations and repression of the youth Otpor NGO. In the 2004 Ukrainian elections the opposition maintained a strategy of non-violence over the longest protest period of 17 days but was prepared to use force if it had been attacked. The regime attempted to suppress the Orange Revolution using security forces. Covert and overt Russian external support was extensive and in the case of Ukraine and Georgia the European Union (EU) did not intervene with a membership offer that had the effect of emboldening the opposition in Central-Eastern Europe. This article surveys five state-backed violent strategies used in Ukraine’s 2004 elections: inciting regional and inter-ethnic conflict, assassinations, violence against the opposition, counter-revolution and use of the security forces. The article does not cover external Russian-backed violence in the 2004 elections unique to Ukraine that the author has covered elsewhere
