There is a window of 48 hours from 7.11 am in NYC-DC and 14.11 Kyiv, Ukraine. The workers haven’t been allowed to leave the facility and are also low on food.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia Edgars Rinkèvics @edgarsrinkevics:
Most disturbing news from #Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant about power
outages, #Russia must take all measures to ensure safety of the facility and
allow repair teams to work, I call on @iaeaorg to interfere in this situation
immediately

The really weird thing about nuclear power is that it requires an outside source of energy for equipment, including cooling the waste. If they can’t restore the grid, then they would need additional fuel for the backup generators. Surely Belarus would give it to them, as they are next door in danger’s way.

The only electrical grid supplying the Chornobyl NPP and all its nuclear facilities occupied by Russian army is damaged. CNPP lost all electric supply. I call on the international community to urgently demand Russia to cease fire and allow repair units to restore power supply 1/2

Reserve diesel generators have a 48-hour capacity to power the Chornobyl NPP. After that, cooling systems of the storage facility for spent nuclear fuel will stop, making radiation leaks imminent. Putin’s barbaric war puts entire Europe in danger. He must stop it immediately! 2/2https://twitter.com/DmytroKuleba/status/1501531157510426625

Earlier reports said that the Chornobyl NPP was left without electricity due to the actions of Russian invaders. Due to the ongoing fighting, it is impossible to carry out repairs and restore power supply.” https://www.ukrinform.net/rubric-ato/3424747-latvian-fm-demands-iaea-immediately-interfere-due-to-power-outage-at-chornobyl-npp.html
