If this is refined oil, US refineries include ones owned by Saudi Arabia; Venezuela (CITGO); Koch Industries; and Access Industries – owned by Russian oligarch-robber baron, Len Blavatnik: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Access_Industries Blavatnik says that he’s not a Russian oligarch. The Guardian says that he is: https://www.theguardian.com/business/2017/sep/03/len-blavatnik-oligarch-controversy-philanthropy-resignation-oxford-professor There are, of course, the ones that we generally think of like BP and Exxon, as well as many others. Some of these companies continue to be active in Russia, especially at Sakhalin: https://www.eia.gov/energyexplained/oil-and-petroleum-products/data/refinery_rank_2019.xls At one point we started working on detailed ownership of the US refineries, but never finished. Saudi Aramco has recently undergone some privatization. CITGO is in debt to Russia.

Pompeo reportedly owes his political and business career to the Kochs.

(When looking at the US and Russia, it is worth recalling that World War I was fought between three cousins – Queen Victoria’s grandchildren – the British King, the German Kaiser and the Russian Tsar).

According to Radio Liberty, Pompeo expressed hope that this visit would be a serious step towards closer relations and ties between the United States and Belarus.

Pompeo said he talked to Lukashenka about the need to create easier conditions for American businesses to enter the Belarusian market.

“Belarus has made real progress on democratization and human rights issues, but there is still work to be done. The United States prioritises respect for human rights, a strong civil society and press freedom in every corner of the world. Progress in these areas is the only way towards lifting of American sanctions”.

After Mike Pompeo’s plane landed at Minsk National Airport, he headed to the Independence Palace to meet with Alyaksandr Lukashenka. He was greeted at the entrance to the Palace by Foreign Minister Uladzimir Makey.
