Feb 5, 2019 Press Release
Washington, D.C. (Feb. 5, 2019)— This week, the House Committees on Oversight and Reform and Ways and Means will hold hearings on H.R. 1, the For the People Act.

“The American people voted for accountability and transparency from this Administration, and Democrats have introduced this legislation to deliver on that promise,” said Chairman Cummings.  “I look forward to hearing from the expert witnesses on the critical reforms in H.R. 1 to ensure the government is working effectively and efficiently for all people.”

“Transparency is a hallmark of good government,” said Chairman Lewis. “The Ways and Means Oversight Subcommittee is holding this important hearing so that Members and the public will learn about existing law, precedents and tradition, and legislative proposals to improve the integrity of our democracy.  I look forward to hearing from our witnesses.”
