The Trump administration wants to force ratepayers to subsidize uneconomic, polluting, nuclear and coal power stations. US Senator from New Mexico, Martin Heinrich, a Democrat, calls this “an unprecedented action to distort the markets.” Republicans pretend to be free-enterprise capitalists, but want socialistic distortion of the markets to benefit the nuclear and coal industries. They want socialism for the rich and free market capitalism for the poor. Nuclear power has always been subsidized by the taxpayer and the ratepays and has never been economic.

VIDEO: Heinrich Questions Department Of Energy On Trump Administration Directive To Subsidize Coal Plants Thursday, July 19, 2018
WASHINGTON, D.C. – During an Energy and Natural Resources Committee hearing today, U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) questioned the Department of Energy’s rationale for subsidizing uneconomic coal plants.

Senator Heinrich pressed Bernard McNamee, Executive Director, Office of Policy, U.S. Department of Energy, on the Trump Administration’s unprecedented directive to the Department of Energy to require rate-payers to subsidize certain resources, coal-fired and nuclear power plants, under the guise of national security.
