The now infamous Alex Nix is not only CEO of Cambridge Analytica, but is also CEO of Emerdata with Robert Mercer’s daughters serving on the Emerdata Board. So, they may have put him on leave from Cambridge Analytica, but left him as CEO of Emerdata. This was probably the plan, anyway, when Emerdata was created.

The Guardian’s excerpt from the UK Channel 4 Expose where Alex Nix speaks of entrapment of opposition politicians: http://youtu.be/wSPK07PXozY . [Update: Since the Guardian’s excerpt was apparently removed since this post was published (within last 12 hours or so) here is the link to the original, which hopefully won’t disappear: http://youtu.be/mpbeOCKZFfQ If it does, the Channel 4 web site is further below.]

[Update: The original Channel 4 video, above, at around 11 minutes discusses the possibility of using a name other than Cambridge Analytica for campaigns, so as not to draw attention. This could be why Emerdata was created. Russian-style plausible deniability? At around 14 minutes starts discussion of entrapment. ]

Part of the Emerdata board member list, from the UK government, showing the Mercer sisters with Alex Nix as CEO:

According to the UK government, the previous name of Cambridge Analytica was SCL USA LTD and significant control is by Scl Elections Limited and significant control of it is by Scl Analytics Limited in Sept. 7 2016 (notification April 2016) and prior to that to Nix. Significant control of it is by Scl Group Limited and Alex Nix. Wheatland is listed as a consultant to SCL Analytics Limited. Scl Group Limited significant control is listed as Mr Roger Michael Gabb (25 to 50%) and Wheatland is listed as CEO. See: https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/05514098/officers Bloomberg lists Julian Wheatland As Chairman of the Board SCL Group Limited (NB: Put company name in search window at link to double check-verify information on company names, press people and significant control for interesting info.)

Emerdata was incorporated on August 11, 2017. As of Sept. 18, 2017 Wheatland was listed as sole director of Emerdata. Alexander Tayler had significant control (25 to 50%) as notified 11 August 2017 and ceased on 23 January 2018. According to the summary Wheatland had significant control until 23 January 2018. While Tayler appears gone, Wheatland is COO and Alex Nix is CEO, appointed Jan. 23, 2018. Thus, it appears that Emerdata was created so that Cambridge Analytica could easily became a new company. Perhaps to avoid litigation? Or other?

Recently, a whole bunch of people were added as Emerdata directors, including Robert Mercer’s daughters on March 16th. The UK Channel 4 Expose seems to have started airing on March 17, 2018, but was filmed between November 2017 and January 2018. They probably asked Cambridge Analytica for comment at some point. Robert Mercer gave millions to a group which benefitted Trump, backed Breitbart and is reported as investor-connected to Cambridge Analytica. After Trump got the nomination, Mercer gave at least $ 2 million and $1 million to Trump’s inauguration. The higher figures given in some places are of his total donations, and to a group which only later supported Trump, after he became the nominee. Sheldon and Miriam Adelson gave the most money to benefit Trump after he became the Republican nominee.
