Ukraine calls on US to impose sanctions on Russian metallurgy: Ukraine has called on the United States to introduce sanctions against Russia’s steel industry and to include Ukrainian ore and other products in the Western supply chain, replacing Russia in these markets.” https://www.ukrinform.net/rubric-economy/3610691-ukraine-calls-on-us-to-impose-sanctions-on-russian-metallurgy.html

Russia is one of the world’s leading producers of oil and natural gas, and is also a top exporter of metals such as steel and primary aluminum. Russia is heavily dependent on the movement of world commodity prices as reliance on commodity exports makes it vulnerable to boom and bust cycles that follow the volatile swings in global prices. The economy, which had averaged 7% growth during the 1998-2008 period as oil prices rose rapidly, has seen diminishing growth rates since then due to the exhaustion of Russia’s commodity-based growth model.” https://www.cia.gov/the-world-factbook/countries/russia/#economy

Russia bans military-technical cooperation with 74 entities from 11 NATO member states The Russian government has barred its defense firms from concluding agreements in the field of military-technical cooperation with 74 organizations from 11 “unfriendly” countries, all members of NATO”. https://www.ukrinform.net/rubric-polytics/3610485-russia-bans-militarytechnical-cooperation-with-74-entities-from-11-nato-member-states.html

This news appeared on Ukraine news on November 9th, but it is news from November 5th, and reported in some places on the 8th:
So what are the names of the entities, if any, that were still working with Russia and allegedly banned? Most of these countries restricted such deals with Russia back in February, anyway. “Russian govt prohibits military-technical cooperation with 74 companies from unfriendly countries MOSCOW. Nov 8 (Interfax) – The Russian government has imposed a ban as part of retaliatory sanctions on deals related to military-technical cooperation with 74 organizations from unfriendly countries, according to a statement published on the government’s website… The document to this effect was signed on November 5 and amends the Russian government’s Directive No. 851, dated May 11, 2022… The list of companies targeted by Russian countersanctions includes 21 organizations from Germany, 15 from Bulgaria, 12 from Poland, six from Slovakia, five from Lithuania, four from the Czech Republic, three from the UK and Montenegro each, two from the U.S. and Canada each, and one from Estonia. The full list is available for viewing on the Russian government’s website…https://web.archive.org/web/20221108093856/https://interfax.com/newsroom/top-stories/84690/ Interfax doesn’t give a link and the one given by Ukraine appears dead. Does this list really exist or is this another Russian con?

It’s apparently mostly a Russian con:
Russia bans military deals with 74 companies from “unfriendly countries“, November 08, 2022 https://rus.ozodi.org/a/32120810.html
The Russian government banned Russian companies from military-technical transactions with 74 organizations from “unfriendly countries.” Most of these states restricted such deals with Russia back in February in response to its invasion of Ukraine. According to the decree, the list of organizations with which Russia’s military-technical cooperation is now limited includes companies from Bulgaria, Great Britain, Germany, Canada, Lithuania, Slovakia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Montenegro, Estonia and the United States. Seven of these countries are members of the European Union. In response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the EU countries imposed sanctions , according to which it is forbidden to supply Russia with “goods and technologies that can contribute to the military-technical improvement of Russia or the development of its defense and security sector.” Similar restrictions have been introduced by the United Kingdom , Canada and the United States . The United States also imposes sanctions on states that cooperate with Russia in the military-technical sphere, in particular on Iran for the supply of drones. Russia denies using Iranian drones. Iran acknowledges the shipments, claiming to have sent the drones before the war. The Russian authorities have declared more than 60 states “unfriendly to Russia countries and territories” for imposing or supporting sanctions in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. This list includes the countries of the European Union, Great Britain, the USA, Canada and Japan.https://rus.ozodi.org/a/32120810.html
