Putin’s East German Stasi card

Putin really loves ethnic Germans. Not only is there Alexey Miller, CEO of Gazprom, but there’s Sberbank’s Herman Gref, Nord Stream’s Matthias Warnig. Former German Chancellor Schröder has worked for Russian state-owned energy companies, including Nord Stream AG, Rosneft, and Gazprom. There’s also Arkady Rotenberg, who is ethnic Jewish with a German surname, and Putin’s German born friend, Henry Kissinger. Those are just those which spring to mind. There are surely more. “Alexey Borisovich Miller (Russian: Алексе́й Бори́сович Ми́ллер; born 31 January 1962) is a Russian businessman. Miller is the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Chairman of the Management Committee (CEO) of Russian energy company Gazprom, Russia’s largest company and the world’s biggest public energy supplier…Miller was born in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg) to an assimilated Russo-German family…https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexey_Miller

Russia: Why The Chekist Mind-Set Matters

GO-GETTERS: Investigation on how the Chekists privatized the national wealth By Mikhail Maglov, Roman Badanin, Maria Pevchikh, Dmitry Sukharev, with participation of Ivan Vasilyev, June 16, 2022
For more than 15 years, a group of Russian secret service officers has been carrying out secret business assignments, from dividing Yukos’ property to acquiring stakes in Gazprom’s most promising assets. Much of the luxury assets acquired by this group of “golden colonels” end up in the possession of Gazprom head Alexei Miller.

2. How Alexei Miller snatched up contracts from his own company
3. Who are Colonel Sergei Tregub and his cronies from the security services
4. How the Chekists seized Yukos
“Gazprom is more than just a stock company. The country’s entire economy is largely based on the gas industry,” said President Vladimir Putin a year after he was first elected, in May 2001, when he announced to the team of the gas monopoly that his confidant Alexei Miller had been appointed head of the company. This phrase was true in every sense, even the ones that Putin probably would have preferred to hide. From the first day of his presidency, Gazprom became more than a state company; it became a source of personal wealth for Putin himself and his entourage, including people from the security services…

Excerpted from “Clans are marching: Russia’s ruling class is made up of a complex system of clans, constantly grouping and regrouping around their leader Vladimir Putin. Vladimir Pribylovsky explains who’s who in today’s Russia”. By Vladimir Pribylovsky 30 May 2013: “The Luzhkov group retained its hold on Moscow and extended its influence to several provinces, such as Nizhny Novgorod and Kaliningrad, where incoming governors shared Luzhkov’s administrative background and economic interests, while Vladimir Resin, the new number three in the clan (after Luzhkov himself and his businesswoman wife Yelena Baturina) poached some of Luzhkov’s people. At the same time the Mayoral clan was weakened economically by the loss of Khodorkovsky and it was not able to protect the MOST construction group, which was broken up by the siloviki and taken over by the new, state controlled Gazprom, headed by one of the siloviki, Aleksei Miller.” https://www.opendemocracy.net/en/odr/clans-are-marching/
