Gregorian Calendar 15 March 2022; Julian Calendar 2 March 2022. So, the Ides of March have come. Aye, they are come, but they are not gone. They are not gone for almost two weeks.

Arresting Putin is a good idea. Carrying him off to a psych ward is even better. But, he almost certainly has contingency plans that would make this close to impossible.

The Ides of March are here on the Gregorian Calandar. However, they aren’t gone until March 28th on the Julian Calendar. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julian_calendar The Julian Calendar is still used by parts of the Eastern Orthodox Church.

In modern times, the Ides of March is best known as the date on which Julius Caesar was assassinated in 44 BC…. As many as 60 conspirators, led by Brutus and Cassius, were involved. According to Plutarch, a seer had warned that harm would come to Caesar on the Ides of March. On his way to the Theatre of Pompey, where he would be assassinated, Caesar passed the seer and joked, “Well, the Ides of March are come”, implying that the prophecy had not been fulfilled, to which the seer replied “Aye, they are come, but they are not gone.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ides_of_March

The Ides of March are here but not gone until the 28th : “Lindsey Graham @LindseyGrahamSC: Is there a Brutus in Russia? Is there a more successful Colonel Stauffenberg in the Russian military? The only way this ends is for somebody in Russia to take this guy out. You would be doing your country – and the world – a great service”. 9:35 PM DC/SC Mar 3, 2022.”

One can but hope. However, it appears more likely that US Senator Graham is right. Some so-called conservative pundits have spent more time criticizing US Senator Lindsey Graham, for speaking the truth, than they have spent criticizing Putin and his crimes against humanity. Lindsey Graham hasn’t always been our favorite. However, with roots on the Borders of England and Scotland, and in South Carolina, he knows how to deal with people like Putin, as does another Scotsman, named Trump.

How can anyone say that Putin’s life is worth more than however many thousands of lives that are being lost. And, if he sets off a nuclear war, the permanent destruction of the world? Please pray that he is removed by whatever means necessary, whether alive or dead, according to God’s will.

If conservative Americans keep running offensive/defensive cover for Putin, side by side with those on the extreme left, no one will have to worry about election integrity because decent people will sit home. At least some politicians are showing themselves better people than many media and social media pundits. While people are dying there is no time for Putin’s KGB “whataboutism”.

The hard, cold, truth is that some people are such evil, aggressive bullies, who blight lives, that no peace for the victims can be found until they are dead. If they are blighting the lives of individuals or their families, then people must simply wait and hope and pray that their days are short. However, when they are killing many and blighting the lives of the world, then waiting can no longer be justified.

Russia would not have annexed one inch of Ukraine’s territory if I was in the White House… I stand as the only president of the 21st century that Russia did not invade any other country and neither did anyone else,” he said. “We had peace through strength because the world was calm because America was strong.” (Donald Trump, March 12, 2022, South Carolina: https://nypost.com/2022/03/12/trump-says-he-would-be-speaking-to-putin-to-avoid-wwiii/ )

In modern times, the Ides of March is best known as the date on which Julius Caesar was assassinated in 44 BC. Caesar was stabbed to death at a meeting of the Senate. As many as 60 conspirators, led by Brutus and Cassius, were involved. According to Plutarch, a seer had warned that harm would come to Caesar on the Ides of March. On his way to the Theatre of Pompey, where he would be assassinated, Caesar passed the seer and joked, “Well, the Ides of March are come”, implying that the prophecy had not been fulfilled, to which the seer replied “Aye, they are come, but they are not gone.” This meeting is famously dramatised in William Shakespeare’s play Julius Caesar, when Caesar is warned by the soothsayer to “beware the Ides of March.”https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ides_of_March

Gregorian Calendar 15 March 2022; Julian Calendar 2 March 2022

The Julian calendar, proposed by Julius Caesar in AUC 708 (46 BC), was a reform of the Roman calendar.[1] It took effect on 1 January AUC 709 (45 BC), by edict. It was designed with the aid of Greek mathematicians and astronomers such as Sosigenes of Alexandria.
The calendar became the predominant calendar in the Roman Empire and subsequently most of the Western world for more than 1,600 years until 1582, when Pope Gregory XIII promulgated a minor modification to reduce the average length of the year from 365.25 days to 365.2425 days and thus corrected the Julian calendar’s drift against the solar year. Worldwide adoption of this revised calendar, which became known as the Gregorian calendar, took place over the subsequent centuries, first in Catholic countries and subsequently in Protestant countries of the Western Christian world. The Julian calendar is still used in parts of the Eastern Orthodox Church and in parts of Oriental Orthodoxy as well as by the Berbers.[2]

The Julian calendar has two types of years: a normal year of 365 days and a leap year of 366 days. They follow a simple cycle of three normal years and one leap year, giving an average year that is 365.25 days long. That is more than the actual solar year value of 365.24219 days (the current value, which varies) which means the Julian calendar gains a day every 128 years. For any given event during the years from 1901 to 2099 inclusive, its date according to the Julian calendar is 13 days behind its corresponding Gregorian date”.

A reminder that only 57 miles divides mainland Russia and the United States (Alaska), meaning that the US is closer to mainland Russia than is Poland. The US is 2.5 miles from a Russian island and Poland next to a Russian exclave, which is unattached to the Russian mainland, and which belongs historically, and probably legally, to Europe.
There’s 2.5 miles that separate Little Diomede and Big Diomede,” Murkowski says of the two islands — one U.S. territory, the other Russian — in the Bering Strait. “It’s an in-your-face reminder that there is very little that separates us.”
