Chart showing the ups and downs of the price of gold from 1960-2019:

The gold market is subject to speculation and volatility as are other markets.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold_as_an_investment

Gold has no inherent value and gold mining is bad for the environment. When the price of gold goes up, there is more interest in mining and exploration. Please find another stable and ecologically sound investment. For instance, you might invest in currency of a stable country that has very little debt, or a very stable company. The Biden-Pelosi-Schumer debt burden will result in devaluation of the US dollar. However, unless you hate the environment, and love risk, gold isn’t the way to go.

Another risk is penny mining stocks, especially pump and dump stock scams. Then there is straight out fraud: https://miningawareness.wordpress.com/2021/04/02/texas-filed-enforcement-action-against-metals-com-tower-equity-chase-metals-barrick-capital-others-for-fraudulent-precious-metals-investment-scheme/
