Biden Texas Coordinator Rebecca Acuña’s Parents Undermined US Workers and their Rights

Biden Texas coordinator Rebecca Acuña’s family arrived ca 1988 shortly after amnesty was given to illegal immigrants in 1986. According to a recent article, Rebecca Acuña’s mother, Norma, worked as a waitress at Denny’s, and then as a Home Depot cashier. Her father, Gonzalo, worked as a restaurant manager. [1]

In 1991 or 92, I recall speaking to an older middle-aged lady who worked as a hostess at Denny’s, who wanted, and desperately needed, to work as a waitress, so that she could get her car repaired to get to work. But, a US citizen, she wasn’t allowed to move up to the better paying waitress job. Meanwhile, another Denny’s (allegedly) had hired Rebecca Acuña’s mother, an illegal immigrant, as a waitress. This is an inhumane crime. And, yet, we are constantly lied to that illegals take jobs that US citizens don’t want. Was Denny’s ever punished for (allegedly) hiring illegal immigrants?

In a 1994 NYT article “Denny’s Hit By Protests At Only Site With Union”, Jack Lavin, a spokesman for the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union discussed the difficulty in unionizing workers, because illegal workers are “lined up to take these jobs, along with teenagers, and senior citizens, so “most of the workers don’t want to rock the boat”. [2]

Illegal immigration, in general, isn’t a victimless crime. It robs US citizens of jobs, and livelihoods. While she can’t help what her parents did, she, and others, should come clean about the fact that they weren’t needed, and that they stole jobs, and undermined worker’s rights. She should repent, rather than being arrogant.

The immigrant-first Biden-Harris program means that she may be made head of DHS, in a Biden Harris Administration.

Peter Robinson, a former Reagan speechwriter, told NPR: the U.S. failed to regain control of the border — making the 1986 law’s amnesty provision an incentive for others to come to America illegally”. The 1986 amnesty law “granted amnesty to nearly 3 million illegal immigrants, yet was largely considered unsuccessful because the strict sanctions on employers were stripped out of the bill for passage.” [3]

In 2020, “Joe Biden wishes to provide “a roadmap to citizenship for nearly 11 million undocumented immigrants.” (The true number of illegal aliens in the country is actually closer to 14.3 million, with approximately 12.6 million of those being adults.)” [4] Chain migration means that each of these 14.3 million could sponsor an additional 6.38 additional legal immigrants. [5] This is presumably excluding US born children.

Her parents stole good working class jobs from Americans. Right after the amnesty of the mid-80s they came to the United States from Mexico – probably waiting for the next amnesty.

Don’t be fooled – waiting tables like her mother did, paid well, in this period, if there was a good turnover, because of tips. It probably still does. Nonetheless, illegal workers undermined unions, wages, workings conditions and benefits.

Americans were generally denied the privilege of waiting tables because they were told that they needed “experience”. Where do you get experience if no opportunity is offered?

Now decades later, we know why. Now the truth is made clear by Rebecca Acuna – it probably wasn’t lack of experience, but being a US citizen. These jobs were apparently saved for illegals, like her parents.

Rebecca Acuña also worked as communications director for Congressman Pete Gallego in 2013, years before becoming a citizen. Was this legal? We still don’t know how she was able to convert her DACA status to US citizen.

Re the Biden Harris Immigration platform: “These proposals not only reverse reforms undertaken by the current presidential administration but also make unprecedented and sweeping changes to America’s immigration system… The result would be an eye-popping, unsustainable number of new arrivals in a short period of time.” https://www.fairus.org/sites/default/files/2020-10/biden-harris-platform.pdf https://www.fairus.org/issue/amnesty/numbers-how-biden-harris-immigration-platform The proposals include green cards for foreign STEM PhDs. The FAIR study is a very low estimate, because it uses a family joining average, which is based on averages which include less populous countries. As well, it doesn’t seem to account for either births within the country or that each new immigrant can sponsor more for perpetuity.

For the United States, “Of the top immigrant-sending countries, Mexico has the highest rate of chain migration. In the most recent five-year cohort of immigrants studied (1996-2000), each new Mexican immigrant sponsored 6.38 additional legal immigrants. Chain migration is contributing to the aging of the immigration stream… In recent years, about 21 percent of family migrants were age 50 or older — a rate that is more than 24 percent higher. This trend has implications for the fiscal consequences of immigration.“ See: “Immigration Multipliers: Trends in Chain Migration” By Jessica M. Instead, we found the information about undermining unions/union-busting by illegal immigrants.
