People need to understand what it meant to Kamala Harris’ career to date and campaign with Willie Brown, to be introduced by him, and to be his political appointee. It is fair to say that he created her political career. Willie Brown led what appears to be one of the most powerful political machines to ever exist – maybe the most powerful since it was in California, and spread its tentacles to Washington DC. His acolyte-minions are still in power, and include the Governor of California, the Mayor of San Francisco and Kamala Iyer Harris. He led, yes, but it doesn’t necessarily mean he was the real ruler. Pelosi represents San Francisco and owes her career in part to Brown, but more importantly to her father, a Baltimore Machine politician. They provided training and opened doors.
