“If S. 386 with these amendments is enacted, we would see a huge influx of essentially permanent foreign workers into the U.S. These workers would have the flexibility to compete against U.S. workers for a finite number of jobs for skilled occupations… It is also highly concerning that Sen. Lee is trying to pass a major immigration bill that will massively transform U.S. immigration laws and immigration flows through unanimous consent, notwithstanding repeated and sustained requests from U.S. workers and others to allow public hearings. This bill needs to follow regular order, including public hearings, expert and multiple stakeholder testimony, and committee markup.” (US Tech Workers)
The majority of Americans oppose importing foreign workers, extended family joining, & increasing immigration:https://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/immigration_index/crosstabs_rasmussen_reports_immigration_index_december_15_19_2019

Statement from USTW regarding Lee-Durbin Amendments to S. 386 “Fairness for High Skilled Immigrants Act”. TL;DR:
– Doesn’t curb H-1B abuse or protect American workers
– Will INCREASE immigration numbers
– Doesn’t solve backlog, but exacerbate it
– Encourage black market for EADs.
