Prior to Donna Gilmore’s segment on Holtec, at 27 minutes, is a segment by Gordon Edwards https://youtu.be/tkpOfQ6cNgI. It is important to know, that contrary to what seems to be implied by Gordon Edwards, tritium/tritiated water CAN be separated-filtered, because it has different characteristics from regular water, as we posted over 4 1/2 years ago: https://miningawareness.wordpress.com/2015/04/13/recovery-of-tritium-from-tritiated-waste-water-cost-effectiveness-analysis/ It is super-heavy water, and even melts at a higher temperature. See more on the topic, as well as regarding ionizing and non-ionizing radiation further below. Additionally, not all radioactive “shots” (becquerels) have the same impacts upon living beings. In particular, alpha radiation is much more damaging and almost impossible for living beings to repair correctly. Non-living materials, such as nuclear waste cans, cannot self-repair, so damage remains, and worsens over time. https://miningawareness.wordpress.com/2016/12/24/on-the-unique-dna-damage-done-by-ionizing-radiation-nuclear-materials-and-on-metting-hultgren-et-al-misleading-the-us-congress-in-this-matter While Gordon Edwards makes important points, such as the in-growth of ionizing radiation – where short-lived radionuclides become more dangerous radionuclides, his comments should be used as a starting point for research, not as an end-point. https://miningawareness.wordpress.com/2016/12/30/important-to-oppose-production-of-technetium-99m-precursor-mo-99-even-late-technetium-99-stays-radioactive-for-millions-of-years/ https://miningawareness.wordpress.com/2018/05/13/fracking-fluids-become-more-radioactive-over-time-2/

More information on Holtec can also be found by doing a search for Holtec in the search window of our web site.
Discussion of ionizing vs non-ionizing radiation, and tritiated vs non-tritiated water follows description of a Holtec worker imported from India.
This is but one example of the type of worker that Holtec’s owner, India born and raised Kris Pal Singh, is bringing in as engineer for these critically important nuclear waste cans. This person is almost certainly in the green card “backlog” of workers from India. BS Mechanical Engineering 1987 – “Regional Eng. College” Durgapur India via Canada (Country of Birth, India but Canadian Citizenship): “11. Job Duties – Project Engineer for Holtec International (Camden, NJ) to perform integrated product development and engineering services for spent nuclear fuels using Math CAD, Microsoft Office, and SolidWorks. Prepare and review licensing evaluations, and maintain compliance with strict quality assurance standards and on time delivery. Review product designs for compliance with engineering principles, contract requirements, and applicable standards. Author and review design changes, specifications, analyses and drawings. Provide technical resolution for manufacturing deviations and implement requirements of U.S. Codes, and Standards and NRC’s Regulations in fabrication and testing…. 14. Specific skills or other requirements – Position requires a master’s degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering or a related field and two years of experience in the nuclear field or a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering or a related field and 5 years of experience in the nuclear field. Experience must include MathCAD, Microsoft Office, SolidWorks and use of U.S. Codes, Standards, and U.S. NRC’s (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) requirements on spent nuclear fuel storage….” https://lcr-pjr.doleta.gov/index.cfm?event=ehLCJRExternal.dspCert&doc_id=3&visa_class_id=6&id=1204742 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Institute_of_Technology,_Durgapur

To better clarify another point made by Gordon Edwards.
Microwaves are non-ionizing and closer to radiowaves:
https://www.cdc.gov/nceh/radiation/nonionizing_radiation.html
“The Electromagnetic Spectrum: Non-Ionizing Radiation
Radiation exists all around us, from both natural and manmade sources, and is in two forms: ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.
Ionizing radiation is a form of energy that acts by removing electrons from atoms and molecules of materials that include air, water, and living tissue. Ionizing radiation can travel unseen and pass through these materials.
What is non-ionizing radiation?
Non-ionizing radiation exists all around us from many sources. It is to the left of ionizing radiation on the electromagnetic spectrum in the figure [above].

Contrary to what Gordon Edwards implies, there are ways to separate tritium/tritiated water from non-tritiated water, such as palladium membrane and cryogenic. They are based on the fact that tritiated water has different characteristics from non-tritiated water. Cryogenic is based on the fact that tritiated water freezes-melts at a different temperature than normal water.
Whereas regular water has a melting point of 0 degrees centigrade (32 F), tritiated water has a melting point of 4.49 C (40 F): http://www1.lsbu.ac.uk/water/water_properties.html
The wikipedia article on tritiated water isn’t very good. So, we take from the “heavy water” article. Tritiated water is called “super-heavy water“.
“Tritiated water contains tritium (3H) in place of protium (1H) or deuterium (2H), and therefore it is radioactive… Heavy water is 10.6% denser than ordinary water, and heavy water’s physically different properties can be seen without equipment if a frozen sample is dropped into normal water, as it will sink. If the water is ice-cold the higher melting temperature of heavy ice can also be observed: it melts at 3.7 °C, and thus does not melt in ice-cold normal water…
Different isotopes of chemical elements have slightly different chemical behaviors, but for most elements the differences are far too small to use, or even detect. For hydrogen, larger differences in chemical properties between protium (light hydrogen), deuterium and tritium arise because chemical bond energy depends on reduced mass of the nucleus–electron system. This quantity is altered in heavy-hydrogen compounds (of which deuterium oxide is the most common) more than for heavy-isotope substitution in other chemical elements. This isotope effect of heavy hydrogen is magnified further in biological systems, which are very sensitive to small changes in the solvent properties of water.
Heavy water is the only known chemical substance that affects the period of circadian oscillations, consistently increasing the length of each cycle. The effect is seen in unicellular organisms, green plants, isopods, insects, birds, mice, and hamsters. The mechanism is unknown.[23]
To perform their tasks, enzymes rely on their finely-tuned networks of hydrogen bonds, both in the active center with their substrates, and outside the active center, to stabilize their tertiary structures. As a hydrogen bond with deuterium is slightly stronger[24] than one involving ordinary hydrogen, in a highly deuterated environment, some normal reactions in cells are disrupted.
Particularly hard-hit by heavy water are the delicate assemblies of mitotic spindle formations necessary for cell division in eukaryotes. Plants stop growing and seeds do not germinate when given only heavy water, because heavy water stops eukaryotic cell division.[25][26] The deuterium cell is larger and is a modification of the direction of division.[27][28] The cell membrane also changes, and it reacts first to the impact of heavy water. In 1972 it was demonstrated that an increase in the percentage content of deuterium in water reduces plant growth.[29] Research conducted on the growth of prokaryotemicroorganisms in artificial conditions of a heavy hydrogen environment showed that in this environment, all the hydrogen atoms of water could be replaced with deuterium.[30][31][32] Experiments showed that bacteria can live in 98% heavy water.[33]However, all concentrations over 50% of deuterium in the water molecules were found to kill plants…“Read more here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_water

MORE ON TRITIUM//TRITIATED WATER –
It’s important to realize that feasibility is a technical question and not a cost question. Cost can generally be brought down. And, what price will you put upon the environment of the entire world?

A more recent document claims that it costs 70 cents per gallon to dump the water. Any other costs given should be considered in this BS overinflated context. Much of the cost is apparently from energy, which means that using solar or hydro or wind reduces cost: https://www.energy.gov/sites/prod/files/2017/06/f34/May%2010%20-%20Brooks-Review%20of%20Water%20Detritiation%20Technologies.pdf

NOTE: THIS BLOG EXPLAINED OVER FOUR AND 1/2 YEARS AGO THAT TRITIATED WATER CAN BE FILTERED. IT MATTERS THAT IT CAN BE FILTERED AND THAT THEY JUST DON’T WANT TO FILTER IT BECAUSE THEY WANT TO POCKET MORE PROFITS. THEY APPARENTLY DON’T WANT NEW FILTERING TECHNOLOGIES, EITHER. IT’S WORSE THAN REFUSING TO DESALINATE WATER WHILE PEOPLE DIE OF FAMINE AND DEHYDRATION. YOU DON’T HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THE DETAILS TO UNDERSTAND THAT TRITIATED WATER FREEZES AT A DIFFERENT TEMPERATURE, FOR INSTANCE. IT DOESN’T TAKE A DEGREE OF ANY SORT TO UNDERSTAND. WE DON’T WORK ON THIS TOPIC ANYMORE BECAUSE IT IS COMPLEX, DETAIL-ORIENTED, TEDIOUS, BORING, EASY TO MAKE MISTAKES, AND APPEARS TO HAVE FALLEN UPON THE EARS OF THOSE UNWILLING TO HEAR OR SIMPLY IGNORED.
YOU WOULD THINK THAT A CANADIAN WITH GORDON EDWARDS’ ACADEMIC BACKGROUND WOULD NOTICE/BE CURIOUS ABOUT THE DIFFERENT FREEZING-MELTING POINTS FOR TRITIATED WATER VS REGULAR WATER, BUT NOPE. AS A PRAGMATIC AMERICAN SNOW LOVER, THAT WAS MY FIRST QUESTION. THE SECOND IS HOW THIS RELATES TO FUKUSHIMA’S ICE WALL.
FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN THE IMPACTS OF IONIZING RADIATION ON BIOLOGICAL SYSTEMS, AS WELL AS UPON MATERIALS, PLEASE STUDY OUR EARLIER POSTS AND JUDGE THE EVIDENCE FOR YOURSELF. OR DON’T. WITH NO POLITICAL WILL, IGNORANCE IS BLISS. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS THE BLASPHEMOUS CALVINIST THING AND CALL NUCLEAR-INDUCED LIFE-SHORTENING CANCERS, OR RADIATION ILLNESS AND DEATH, GOD’S WILL, WHEN IT IS CLEARLY THE WILL OF THE DEVIL.
