A bad situation in Northeast Syria is about to get much worse. Sources tell me that US officials have just informed the Syrian Kurds that Turkey is likely to attack on air and ground in next 24 hours. The US will do nothing. Targets are Tal Abyad and Ras al Ayn….

It’s unclear if Trump’s idea is to let SDF be slaughtered or force them into the arms of Putin-Assad or likely both: into Putin-Assad’s arms to be killed or put in prison. Right before doing this, Trump reduced the numbers of refugees allowed to immigrate to the United States. Refugees are less than 10% of the immigrants to the United States. Most of the over one million new residents per year are economic migrants.

What of French Special Forces? According to the French newspaper “Liberation” (7-Oct-19), French Special Forces seem to be concentrated in the north of Iraq and in the area of Deir el-Zor, which is well to the south of the area controlled by the Kurds in Syria. The Chief of Staff of the French Armed Forces, General François Lecointre, met with Kurdish leaders last week in Hassaké. The article notes that the number of French Special Forces in the area is unknown.
