Call your Senators ASAP to oppose S386, which needs to have public hearings and be debated rather than rammed through: https://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm?OrderBy=state&Sort=ASC
A Telegu (India) Discussion board says that US Senator Bernie Sanders has a hot line asking people to say yes or no on US Senate Bill S386. The Telegus say to call 202-224-5141 and they ask their fellow Telegus to “massively push” their “call volume”. They tell people on H1Bs to call and non H1s to “call to support” their “H1B friends”. They inform their compatriots that if it goes to voice mail to keep trying until someone answers the call. https://archive.li/YR2jM

So, non US citizens are doing a massive push to change the US immigration system, and Americans are mostly ignorant of this fact. News in India covers these things, so that people in India know what is going on in US immigration policy, whereas most US citizens do not.

Asian-Indian households have the highest median income of all ethnic groups at $114,261; Median arnings of $148,019. They aren’t hurting https://factfinder.census.gov/faces/tableservices/jsf/pages/productview.xhtml?src=bkmk

Pew had their income at around $100,000: https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2017/09/08/key-facts-about-asian-americans

Read one way that was achieved here: https://miningawareness.wordpress.com/2019/09/22/caste-kinship-the-realisation-of-american-dream-high-skilled-telugu-india-migrants-in-the-usa. What they fail to mention is that affirmative action-minority contract set-asides have further boosted the socio-economic status of immigrants from India, within the United States. As mentioned in the article, immigrants from India know very well that discrimation falls heavily upon Black Americans and not upon them. And, yet, they have taken the affirmative action-minority contract set-asides intended for African Amerians for decades. They are either ignorant or on-the-make lacking in all ethics. If one considers India’s treatment of Dalit-untouchables, the lack of ethics should come as no suprise.

The H1Bs from India caterwaul and pretend that they are persecuted because the employer may take 30% of their $60 per hour salary (2014) for expenses, according to one report: https://archive.li/S8sqR But, this would still leave them $42 per hour, compared to US minimum wage of $7.25. Many Americans would love this “indenture” of around $90,000 per year (2014), or approximately $99,000 today (2019). ($1.00 in 2014 is $1.10 today). Asian-Indians are apparently successful transferring from H1B job to H1B job, too: https://archive.li/PZNvE They probably are using caste and kinship ties to achieve this. (While the $42 per hour is around $87,654 per year 2014 and $96,419 per year 2019, the article says almost 30%, and says salary minus $35,000. This would be 2,087 x $60.00 is $125,220. $125,220 minus $35,000 is $ 90,220.)

Based on the above information, it appears that the H1Bs are very well paid. Increasing pay may simply make more want to migrate from abroad.

This testimony from a US Tech worker also shows that the immigrants are well-paid and that it is Americans who are the real indentured servants: https://www.ustechworkers.com/bobs-story/ Any issue of pay differential would seem to have to do with age and experience.

Immigrants from India also caterwaul about lost years of life waiting! What about the lost lives of Americans who either lose their careers to these well-connected and well-heeled immigrants or never get an opportunity for a career. If they come from India with an undergrad degree at age 21 then after 7 years of employment they are a mere 28 years old. They can go home to India with job experience. The American people have spoiled foreigners into believing that they have rights which supersede American rights!

We don’t know how many are temporary workers vs how many permanent:
The Telugu diaspora numbers more than 800,000 in the United States, with the highest concentration in Central New Jersey (Little Andhra[79]); Telugu speakers are found as well in Australia, New Zealand, Bahrain, Canada (Toronto), Fiji, Malaysia, Singapore, Mauritius, Myanmar, Europe (Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland and the United Kingdom), South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United Arab Emirates.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telugu_language

Most of these immigrants from Telegu and elsewhere in India have come within the last half century. They get counted as a “minority” and they get minority contract set asides-business help meant for African American descendants of slaves (ADOS). They have fabricated or helped fabricate a fake group called “persons of color” so that they can take minority jobs and slots away from true minorities (i.e. ADOS). Coming from the dominant castes, and with help from family and other social ties, they do very well for themselves. Now they think that coming to the United States is their right, as can be seen in their comments on the green card cap. Americans need to ask how and why they have allowed foreigners to believe that they have rights to the United States. This explains about immigration from Telegu India (and elsewhere). https://miningawareness.wordpress.com/2019/09/22/caste-kinship-the-realisation-of-american-dream-high-skilled-telugu-india-migrants-in-the-usa/

It is misleading to use the term “indentured servitude”. These immigrants are paid $60 per hour and even if 30% is taken for expenses, as claimed in the article, they were still paid $42 per hour in 2014. See: “Silicon Valley’s “Body Shop” Secret: Highly Educated Foreign Workers Treated Like Indentured Servants” By Stephen Stock, Julie Putnam, Scott Pham and Jeremy Carroll Wednesday, Oct 29, 2014, NBC news: https://archive.li/S8sqR

H1B salaries on a state by state and Congressional district basis can be found here: http://www.saitj.org
Most are doing very well for themselves.

Using 2,087 as the average number of work hours in a calendar year reasonably accommodates the year-to-year fluctuations in work hours“.https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/pay-leave/pay-administration/fact-sheets/computing-hourly-rates-of-pay-using-the-2087-hour-divisor/

2,087 x $60.00 is $125,220. In the article a worker claims that the company takes $35,000 per year, which means that $90,220 is still left. Making $42 per hour after the alleged 30% removed is $87,654. So, the immigrants in the article are still making between $87,654 and $90,220 per year, pre-tax, in 2014 dollars. In fact, they appears to be making so much that they don’t seem to know exactly how much money they are making. Some information suggests that they may pay less tax than Americans.
