Most Mississippi candidates, Democrat and Republican, are united in talking about really basic topics like infrastructure, public school teacher’s salaries, vo-tech, and rural hospitals. It would be nice if national candidates would follow their example.
Current Mississippi Lt. Governor and candidate for Governor, Tate Reeves, seems to be the only one who pretends that things are really great in Mississippi . The Lt. Governor wields a lot of power over the Mississippi Senate , and so he is apparently trying to protect his record through a state of denial.
One of Reeves’ opponents, Jim Hood, says that, as Mississippi Attorney General, he brought $3 billion back to Mississippi, but that the legislature disappeared much of it with tax cuts and breaks, etc. He calls for transparency and for the legislature’s books to be opened under the public records act.
Tate Reeves, has the support, including financial support, of Governor Phil Bryant, and BGR Group’s Haley Barbour . BGR Group has long acted as lobbyist-foreign agents (FARA) for the Russian oligarchs of Alfa Bank and LetterOne, for the Saudis, India and more. As Barbour’s “boy” and heir apparent, Tate Reeves is also “heir” to the Uranium One deal, which resulted in many US uranium mines now belonging to the Russian government. His connection to Barbour also connects him to the BCCI banking scandal. BCCI was nicknamed the Bank of Crooks and Criminals. Bryant has a weird Brexit Boys and Trump connection, as well. https://miningawareness.wordpress.com/2018/08/25/absurd-brexit-mississippi-trump-russia-connection-promises-of-gold-diamond-uranium-and-data-mining/
Mississippi Governor Bryant (2012-present) served as Lt. Governor (2008-2012) under former Governor Barbour (2004-2012). Prior to that he was the State Auditor from 1996-2008. Barbour is a co-founder of BGR Government Affairs lobbying group. BGR represented Uranium One in the period of the Russian government takeover, while apparently failing to register as a foreign agent (FARA). It has long represented Russia’s Alfa Bank (from 2002 to present), owned by several prominent oligarchs, including German Khan, whose son-in-law was sent to jail for a month in the Mueller investigation. LetterOne, who they also represent, has the same owners as Alfa Bank. See more here: https://miningawareness.wordpress.com/2018/08/25/absurd-brexit-mississippi-trump-russia-connection-promises-of-gold-diamond-uranium-and-data-mining/. Decades ago, Barbour’s BGR co-founder, Ed Rogers, was a BCCI player, working for “BCCI’s Godfather of Middle East Intelligence”, Kamal Adhan. This, of course, connects him to journalist Jamal Khashoggi’s arms-dealing uncle, Adnan Khashoggi. In an earlier incarnation, William Barr appears to have worked to quash part of the BCCI investigation, as well. A US Congressional hearing found that “In the view of the Subcommittee, the real story of Ed Rogers’ involvement in the BCCI scandal has yet to be fully revealed. Rogers, a former White House Political Director, left his position at the White House in early August 1991 to start the political consulting firm of Rogers and Barbour in Washington D.C. By the end of August Rogers, who had only briefly practiced law, was offered a $600,000 contract with Kamal Adham.” https://miningawareness.wordpress.com/2019/05/27/bgr-groups-ed-rogers-connection-to-bccis-godfather-of-middle-east-intelligence-kamal-adham-now-rogers-writes-for-wapo-reps-russian-oligarchs/
In the Republican primary, William Waller Jr., may still beat Reeves. Additionally, Hood has many Democratic primary challengers. All of these speak with almost one voice on the need to improve infrastructure, etc., as do many of the other candidates. From the vantage of coverup vs tranparency, it seems to be Reeves vs. Hood. While we don’t know what is being hidden by the Mississippi legislature, we do know that pretending that things are ok, when they are not, is a coverup in and of itself.
And, it seems like the FBI needs to be back down in Mississippi again, to figure out their weird Russia connections. It appears to be much more than the chicken parts, that Mississippi has long sold to Russia.
Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood:
“The FBI agents who came into Mississippi faced threats and harassment in addition to the oppressive heat of a Mississippi summer. Despite a hostile environment, these law enforcement officers remained solely focused on locating the missing and solving this heinous crime.” https://web.archive.org/web/20160621005818/http://www.ago.state.ms.us/releases/attorney-general-jim-hood-announces-the-conclusion-of-the-state-and-federal-mississippi-burning-case/

While this is the link to Jim Hood’s speech at the Neshoba County Fair thru the Mississippi Public Broadcasting youtube channel, you can find the other speeches, as well. MPB is the best source for the speeches and candidate interviews. Mississippi Today dot org seems to have good coverage, too.
