What kind of chef/catering company operates from a jet black building, complete with security cameras, and washes mats from Sellafield (Nuclear) Site in the middle of a residential street? Reportedly one which even supplies food to local schools! “Why are these mats even leaving the Sellafield site to be washed when Sellafield has its own dedicated water supply and its own Compensation Scheme for Radiation Linked Diseases for its workers? How has Sellafield been allowed to get to the situation where it employs a private company to take its mats away to wash on a residential street – a private cleaning company which is also a catering company supplying local schools and venues including Sellafield itself… How does the Environment Agency know the run off from these mats is not contaminated?,” wonder locals.
Mire Services vans parked on double yellow lines, in a residential area, apparently to protect mat washing for Sellafield (Nuclear) Site.
According to the British government, the SIC code for Mire Services, Ltd is “56102 – Unlicensed restaurants and cafes“, which apparently means (food) catering: https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/06992506 This is not the correct SIC code for cleaning: http://resources.companieshouse.gov.uk/sic/
The owner, Timothy Paul Lewis-Dalby, is supposed to be a chef-caterer, and his business, catering, according to filings with the British government.
Mire Services reportedly washing Sellafield Nuclear site mats in residential area Workington UK
Water running down streets from Mire Services reportedly washing Sellafield Nuclear site mats in residential area of Workington, Cumbria, UK
From “RADIATION FREE LAKELAND
PRESS NOTICE. 9th July 2019
Sellafield’s floor mats must not be washed in the streets of Workington, says Environment Agency.
An anonymous tip off to a small local nuclear safety group that a private cleaning and catering company was washing Sellafield floor mats in a street in Workington sounds far fetched. Even for the most nuclear tolerant area in the UK it sounds more like a mad cap idea from the writers of Gotham.
However when this was checked out it appeared to be true with the company involved blocking off one end of a narrow double yellow lined street with two vans in order to secure the space for power washing Sellafield’s mats. The resulting run off from the mats, a river of dirty water and sludge running down the hill into town. Following a formal complaint the Environment Agency investigated and replied to nuclear safety campaigners Radiation Free Lakeland that:
“With regard to the matter of the industrial mats been washed in Workington, we have followed this up with Sellafield Ltd. The only mats which Mire Services wash, which originate from the Sellafield site, are from construction worker cabins and are not from any of the designated areas where there may be radioactive contamination. Hence, we are satisfied that, even if the mats originate from the Sellafield site, there is no radioactive waste associated with the mat washing. However, it is not good practice to wash any mats in the street and allow the waste water to discharge to surface water drains. Hence, we have warned Mire Services that discharge of effluent to surface water without a permit is an offence under the Environmental Permitting Regulations.”
The people of Workington will be glad to hear that sludgy run off from Sellafield’s floor mats will no longer be running down through the town, unless of course the Environment Agency issue them with a permit. However the Environment Agency’s answer is scarily complacent and raises further questions:
How does the Environment Agency know the run off from these mats is not contaminated? They have not tested the sludge. There are many construction sites on the Sellafield site including the refiguring of historic landscape bunds which contain goodness knows what “historic legacy”.
Children in the town of Workington are more likely to be wearing sandals than construction boots when they splash in the water running down the street.
Why are these mats even leaving the Sellafield site to be washed when Sellafield has its own dedicated water supply and its own Compensation Scheme for Radiation Linked Diseases for its workers?
How has Sellafield been allowed to get to the situation where it employs a private company to take its mats away to wash on a residential street – a private cleaning company which is also a catering company supplying local schools and venues including Sellafield itself. ” (News Release Ends) Emphasis our own.
What a strange name for a food catering service: “A mire (or quagmire) is a wetland type, dominated by living, peat-forming plants. Mires arise because of incomplete decomposition of organic matter, usually litter from vegetation…“https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mire https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mire_(disambiguation) Somewhat similar to: “Mir (Russian: Мир, IPA: [ˈmʲir]; lit. peace or world) was a space station that operated in low Earth orbit from 1986 to 2001, operated by the Soviet Union and later by Russia.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mir

Apparently Timothy Paul Lewis-Dalby’s company business is supposed to be food catering. Shouldn’t his SIC code be changed?: https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/06992506/filing-history
Like Putin’s chef, Timothy Lewis-Dalby appears to have his fingers in other pies – apparently just smaller ones. https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/06992506/officers Probably even Putin’s chef (Yevgeny Prigozhin) has the right SIC code listed for his businesses! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yevgeny_Prigozhin
