Update: The Senate refuses to hold Trump to the law and prohibit funding for military action against Iran without prior Congressional approval. 10 Senators would have made the difference and are AWOL, even though voting started ca 5 am and lasted until after 3 pm. The majority voted to prevent unauthorized war 50-40, but it had to be more than majority.

The reason that there’s little news on this is that the vote is still outstanding as of 3 pm Friday, June 28, 2019. There are 100 members of the US Senate and therefore it could still pass.

JUNE 28, 2019
Senate Session
The Senate votes on an amendment by Senator Tom Udall (D-NM), which would prohibit funding for military action against Iran without prior congressional approval.

The president claims that he does not need Congressional approval to launch strikes against Iran – but he is flat out wrong.

Article I, section 8 of the Constitution could not be clearer: it is Congress – and Congress alone – that has the authority to “declare war.” (US Senator Udall), 12:45 PM – 27 Jun 2019 https://archive.li/ze8qt )
