US House Ways & Means Chair:
“NEAL STATEMENT ON IRS FAILURE TO MEET APRIL 23 DEADLINE
Apr 23, 2019 Press Release
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Ways & Means Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement after Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin informed him that the IRS would not meet the April 23 deadline to furnish six years of President Trump’s personal and business tax returns:
“This afternoon, Secretary Mnuchin notified me that once again, the IRS will miss the deadline for my 6103 request. I plan to consult with counsel about my next steps.”

Why didn’t he consult with counsel already? He should have known that this was coming. Apparently the next step is a subpoena.
On April 9th, 2019, US Congressman
“Quigley released the following statement in response to Secretary Mnuchin’s comments at the hearing:
“The President has made it clear that he does not want his tax returns released to Congress or the public. Employees at both Treasury and the IRS work for the President, which raises the possibility of a conflict of interest.
I have found it deeply concerning that the President has publicly exerted pressure on the Treasury Department not to submit his tax returns to Congress and now find it equally concerning that White House lawyers may also be pressuring Treasury and IRS staff behind the scenes.
It is my hope that the IRS complies with the Ways and Means Committee’s request so we can put these questions to rest.” Read more here: https://miningawareness.wordpress.com/2019/04/10/mnunchin-reveals-treasury-dept-lawyers-consulted-with-white-house-on-trumps-tax-returns/
