Lithuania is concerned that the Russian Taxi Ride-Sharing App, Yandex, may be used for spying. Uber and Yandex merged in Russia early this year. Lithuanian government officials are warned not to use it pending further investigation.

In the Baltic country of Lithuania, there’s growing debate over a Russian-owned taxi ride-sharing service that Lithuanian government officials warn could be spying on users through their smartphones. Uber, Yandex complete ride services merger Feb 7, 2018 · MOSCOW (Reuters) – Uber and Russia’s Yandex have completed a deal to combine their ride-sharing businesses in Russia and neighboring countries, Yandex said on Wednesday.

There is or was an UBER connection to Russian tycoon Magomedov. Through Caspian Venture Capital fund Zyavudin Magomedov is or was invested in ride service Uber. He was arrested less than two months after Uber-Yandex merger.

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russian authorities on Saturday arrested billionaire Ziyavudin Magomedov on charges of embezzling more than $35 million, in one of the highest-profile prosecutions of a Russian tycoon in years.
