At first glance the idea of a wall might sound good, but as some pet owners know, fences can be dug under. And, as shown below, the fence or wall would have to be much deeper than the existing or proposed ones, to stop a tunnel. US Border walls have been under construction for a long while. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, April 5, 2012 San Diego tunnel to smuggle drugs discovered on US-Mexico border.

This says that the above tunnel was 90 ft deep, so whether the fence is 6 ft deep, 20 ft deep, or even 30 ft, it’s not deep enough to stop the tunnels. Focus should be on technology for underground surveillance.
