"Russian Interference in the 2016 United States Election”, Access Hollywood Tapes, Campaign Finance law, collusion, Felony charges, guilty plea, Igor Sechin, Judge William Pauley III, Karen McDougal, Michael Cohen, October 2016, Rosneft, Steele Dossier, Stormy Daniels, Trump Organization, Trump Russia conspiracy, Washington Post
“Michael Cohen’s guilty plea appears to implicate the President in a knowing violation of campaign finance laws, with the payment of hush money to advance the Trump campaign. This is the first guilty plea directly alleging potential criminal activity by the President.” (US Congressman Adam Schiff, former Federal Prosecutor).
According to Reuters, Michael Cohen testified that he “arranged payments” to Stormy Daniels ($130,000) and Karen McDougal ($150,000) “in coordination with, and at the direction of, a candidate for federal office”. The purpose was to buy their silence “for the principal purpose of influencing the election.” Cohen testified before Judge William Pauley III.
Michael Cohen knows almost everything, so we are probably nearing the end of the Mueller investigation, unless it takes a long time for him to tell everything!
RFERL reported over a year ago (2-20-2017) that Michael Cohen “is himself under investigation by the FBI for possible connections with Russian intelligence“. According to the Steele dossier, Cohen’s wife is of Russian ancestry and his father-in-law is a property developer in Russia. Igor Sechin is CEO of Rosneft, which is still majority Russian government owned and Sechin is connected to (former?) Russian Security Services agents: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Igor_Sechin
What did the Steele dossier say about Russian State-owned Rosneft CEO Sechin? That he thought as of October 17th that Trump could no longer win. The Access Hollywood tape was revealed on October 7th.
Then, what did Michael Cohen arrange on October 27th, according to his plea deal?
[Note that Michael Cohen said in a 2017 statement to the US Senate that his wife is of Ukrainian origin and considers the Steele dossier accusations about him unfounded: https://www.cnn.com/2017/09/19/politics/read-michael-cohen-statement/index.html ]
Update note: According to Michael Avenatti, attorney for Stormy Daniels (Ms Clifford),: “Mr. Cohen has previously claimed that the source of funds from the $130,000 payment was a home equity line of credit advance conducted on October 26, 2016… within approximately 75 days of the payment to Ms. Clifford, Mr. Viktor Vekselberg, a Russian Oligarch with close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin, caused substantial funds to be deposited into the bank account from which Mr. Cohen made the payment. It appears that these funds may have replenished the account following the payment to Ms. Clifford“. His written guilty plea, with emphasis added (pages 1-2; 8):
Entire plea agreement here:
According to a February 2017 report by RFERL, Michael “Cohen — who has no foreign-policy experience — is himself under investigation by the FBI for possible connections with Russian intelligence.” They note that he denied the allegations. See: “Trump Associates Reportedly Facilitated Back-Channel Ukraine Peace Plan February 20, 2017 RFE/RL http://www.rferl.org/a/ukraine-trump-cohen-plan-russia-sanctions/28320083.html
Page 30 from the Trump Intelligence Allegations Discusses Cohen, Rosneft, etc . It is possible that some of the allegations are true, and some not. This page makes sense. Recall that Trump’s now former Sec. of State Rex Tillerson’s Exxon Mobil had planned to create a mega-cartel with Rosneft and Rosneft and Exxon lost billions from the sanctions. Notice that Cohen’s father-in-law is allegedly involved in Russian Real Estate development.
