There were some interesting comments by Africans, a Haitian and some Americans on the VOA article entitled: “Trump’s Vulgar Remarks on Immigration Confirmed by Senator” January 12, 2018, VOA News.
One comment warns us that this is a diversion by Trump: ” Why the decent world is alarmed at the jibe of an indecent man is what am alarmed about. He has never hidden his disdain for, especially, Africa right from his campaign days. All Trump is doing now is diversionary. He wants to divert the world’s attention….” (Abimbola Ishola, January 12, 2018)
Another comment points out the now largely forgotten problem of brain drain. Why aren’t educated Africans staying at home to build their countries? Even more, why do we not hear about the problem of brain drain anymore?
The comment points out that those with 12 years of school, the equivalent of US high school and up, are leaving Africa for the US and Europe and are needed at home to build Africa: “Yes he told us the truth, our educational people they didn’t help Africa they wanted good life USA and Europe so that he said that true. Immigration from Africa most of them 12 grade + so this young men and women back to you land build Africa .” (GT3, January 12, 2018) Some European countries only require 9 years of school and some Americans still don’t finish high school.
And Haiti? Under Haitian dictator Francois Duvalier, 80% of Haiti’s professionals went into exile. As Sean Mills (2016) points out, “The brain drain to Montreal was so dramatic that it became a cliché to say that more Haitian doctors resided in Montreal than in Haiti itself.” Already in the 1960s, there were more Haitian nurses in Canada than in Port-au-Prince, according to Mills.
Francois Duvalier’s son, Jean-Claude, bought a $2.5 million apartment in Trump Tower.
According to Dr. Jean-Clause Cadet, as cited in the newspaper “Le Nouvelliste”, in the 1980s (under Jean-Claude Duvalier), Haiti lost 80% of the doctors trained in Haiti, the number is still around 40%. They work in the US, as well as Canada and other countries.
A 2008 NSF study, of those having received research Ph.D.s in science, engineering, or health (SEH) in US universities, found that only 15.9% of Africans returned to their home country to work and 17.9% returned to Africa. Only 5.2% of those from India returned to India; only 4.1% from the former Soviet Union returned to their home countries with only 3.7% of Chinese returned to China. Some have skills which are needed in the US. Others are unneeded and leave US Ph.D.s unemployed.
One person remarked that: “President Trump’s language should make African leaders think of how they take care of their people. Africans folks are scattered around the world like sheeps without sherped in the pursuit of a better life because their countries are exactly ‘s—hole.’ shame on selfish and dictactor african leaders. I am an african, and if I were president, I would consider president Trump’s language as an incentive to improve my country so that I can avoid mockery in the future. I know that many are shocked by the language, but at the end of the day that is true.” (Muana Kasongo, January 13, 2018)
One commenter named “Sam”, said that “What he said is the truth but the world is not used to that kind of truth. African leaders have been praised for not doing enough for their continent, now the hard truth is out. It’s is time we African fixed ourself” to which “jeang” replied: “ I am an African but I am not from shot home. Maybe Sam is.
An apparent American commented on the article: “Democrats more look like an human trafficking group, dumping millions and millions troublesome people into USA .” What many miss is that over one million legal immigrants are given permanent residency in the US per year. Less than 10% are refugees. Contrary to the assumptions by the person commenting, they are not necessarily “troublesome” nor illegal. But, too many people is too many, and it is basic economics that this population dumping drives down wages. Why are people up in arms over the dumping of steel but not of workers? Some legal immigrants are actually unemployed and probably lack the means to return home. They themselves may have been tricked by false promises of streets paved with gold. More people is also more environmental damage even just from basics. The larger the population of a country is, the less each vote counts, as well. This is rather ironic because many politicians appear to be aiming for the immigrants as a voting block of support, as in the days of Tammany Hall. Where is the planning for the over one million new Americans per year? There appears to be none.

All Trump is doing now is diversionary. He wants to divert the world’s attention from his troubles at home. He unilaterally recognized Jerusalem as the capital of the state of Israel. The UN and other world leaders are yet solve the problems created by this recognition, now this.
Trump is the most unfortunate thing that can happen to the united state of America.

” Donald comment on black Nation, it is not a surprise for anyone”. Everyone knew from the very beginning who Donald Trump was. White house cannot and will never change his personality. He is who is. That guy was a racist unfortunately, “he shall remain a racist”.
At last, Donald Trump should further his reading information pertaining Haitians contribution to this great Country. Of Course, you could not use any other language than that. Someone with great since could not expect any better from you. It’s a SHAME for United States. I do believe this Country deserves far better. Thanks to Mr. Cooper.

World community is ashamed of US President making racist and vulgar comments about fellow human beings. No matter which nation we belong to, which religion we belong to or what colour our skin is, we are all human beings. We must respect each other for the simple fact that all are human beings.
It’s shameful that US president even does not have basic decency to respect fellow human beings in this planet. Trump has not insulted Africans. Trump has only lowered the image of US in front of world community by making such a despicable statement about fellow human beings.

The inhabitants of some of the world’s poorest nations are not what President portrays them in his usual divisive and dismissive manner. The citizens of these countries strive like everyone else to better themselves and their families….

Somaliland just criminalized rape just yesterday… I don’t think there are a lot of who people completely disagree with Trump. He’s just too stupid to keep his mouth shut at the appropriate moments.

Just what is it going to take for the American people to realize Trump is a totally vile specimen of humanity? Can these latest remarks be taken as anything other than the ramblings of a person void of all common sense? A sociopath of the highest degree.
The American people need to turn their backs on Trump and demand his resignation. Many people in all walks of life have been prosecuted and removed from their employment situations for far less. Trump is clearly mentally deranged and must be FIRED!

As a president, Donald Trump, represents a whole nation, and should be the leader respecting others. Using vulgar language, is showing the little education he has, besides being inciting racist feelings. It will be that he is the new Hitler, whom in his hatred wrapped everyone in a cruel war, reaping the lives of so many human beings, without any justification.
As I firmly believe that not all Americans are as uneducated or insensitive as Donald Trump, not all members of the countries that He denigrates are people who deserve to be humiliated only by the fact that they were born in a certain territory with Different language, customs or skin color. All human beings are intelligent creatures that unlike animals, we reason in what we do and say.

I see the president’s image makers must be having one hell of a time trying to keep Donald Trump from his own stupid mistakes. Africa may be poor and all that, but nothing gives him the impression that he is happier than anybody in the continent. He has no right to talk about African in a derogatory manner whatsoever. After it’s all about happiness despite what you call well being, and I am pretty sure Africa is a continent of happy people.
Many things maybe wrong inside Africa, but if Trump’s country gets even close to one-tenth of the things Africans walkover as commonplace, everyone there would commit suicide. May not be enviable at the moment, but no one right to look down on the continent for any reason, after all we have not invited to even a visit. It’s left to you to admit or not to admit Africans into USA, but to say wrong things to/or about them is to bring condemnation on yourself. After all there are Americans living in Africa and making it big. Trump should mind his words…, he’s ranting like a drunken urchin.
