The Gürtel (Correa) corruption case that implicates Spanish Prime Minister Rajoy’s party (PP) is supposed to be ending on November 10th. Hopefully, Rajoy will go to jail and President Puigdemont back home.
The Catalan government couldn’t have chosen a worse time to do the referendum. Presidents and Prime Ministers should be removed from office during serious corruption investigations (e.g. Rajoy and Trump). PM Rajoy was using Catalonia to keep the PP corruption scandal out of the news.

Catalan President Puigdemont’s twitter, which links to the new Catalan president in exile web site and which includes a very short clip from his speech. He says that they will accept the December elections but asks will Spain? (After all, another pro-independence government may win).
