As explained in the News Release below, the Dakota Access pipeline easement was issued while the Standing Rock Tribal Chairman, Dave Archambault, was on a plane to Washington DC to meet with the Trump Administration, adding insult to injury. Furthermore, Spicer lied about White House contact with the Tribe, although Chairman Archambault was too polite to call it a lie. Thus, White House lies have been piled upon treachery.
News Release from Standing Rock Sioux Tribe:
“Standing Rock Sioux Chairman responds to Press Secretary Spicer’s statements
Posted on February 23, 2017. Filed to: News, Press Releases
Cannon Ball, N.D. — Dave Archambault II, chair of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, today refuted White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer’s statements that the White House has been involved in any way with the Tribe.
“Spicer claimed that the Trump administration has been ‘constantly’ in contact with our Tribe. That claim is absolutely false,” Archambault said.
“We repeatedly asked for meetings with the Trump administration, but never received one until the day they notified Congress that they were issuing the easement. I was on a plane to Washington, D.C. when the easement was issued. It was an insult to me and to the Tribe. I cancelled the meeting upon hearing this news. We have since filed a lawsuit for the immoral and illegal issuance of the easement and suspension of the environmental impact study.”
The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe remains adamant that the Dakota Access Pipeline is a dangerous project that threatens our water. The tactics to divide our fight against the real enemy, Energy Transfer Partners, are counterproductive and detract from the goal to stop the denigration of our sovereign rights to protect our treaty resources.” ### http://standwithstandingrock.net/standing-rock-sioux-chairman-responds-secretary-spicers-statements/ News Release Ends. It would be good if Chairman Archambault spoke about the case of a man being tasered for no justifiable reason by what were apparently Federal (BIA) government agents in one of the Standing Rock casinos (Prairie Knights Casino Lodge) on February 22nd. BIA police fall under the US executive branch. Not only is the public concerned for the tasered man, but people will now be afraid to go to Standing Rock casinos, which could actually be the objective since President Trump has shown himself hostile to Indian Gaming in the past and mega-donor Sheldon Adelson is a casino magnate, and thus, theoretically a competitor. Perhaps more important, the Cordish Family, is involved in Casino development and possibly operations. One of the Cordish sons is a Trump presidential advisor.
