Nuclear Power Nuclear War Everyday JFK quote
Just As Above Ground Nuclear Testing was Stopped, So Too Must Leaking of Radionuclides from the Nuclear Fuel Chain Be Stopped. Even from a statistical point of view they keep discovering that nuclear is more deadly than initially thought. Based on a recent government funded study of nuclear workers, risk is around 15 times worse than even BEIR VII thought, maybe even higher: https://miningawareness.wordpress.com/2015/12/19/another-look-at-the-recent-low-dose-radiation-exposure-study-inworks/

Clustered DNA damage, which is impossible, or almost impossible, to properly repair, is considered a signature of ionizing radiation: “clustered DNA damage sites, which may be considered as a signature of ionising radiation, underlie the deleterious biological consequences of ionising radiation…ionising radiation creates significant levels of clustered DNA damage, including complex double-strand breaks (DSB)” See: “Biological Consequences of Radiation-induced DNA Damage: Relevance to Radiotherapy“, by M.E. Lomax et. al. Clinical Oncology 25 (2013) 578-585

INDIA SEEKS $9 BILLION US GOVERNMENT, US TAXPAYER GUARANTEED, LOAN FOR TOSHIBA=WESTINGHOUSE NUCLEAR REACTORS Toshiba has committed accounting fraud and is under investigation by the US DOJ and US SEC.

In the US itself, Secretary of Energy Ernst Moniz: “wants the country to consider simply diluting the plutonium with inert materials and disposing the mix deep underground, such has been done for other nuclear materials in New Mexico,” as reported in Reuters, Tue, 20 Sep 2016 (See link below).

Dilution and burial of plutonium waste didn’t work out well at all at WIPP. The radioactive waste appears to have exploded and it contaminated the WIPP facility and plutonium and americium escaped into the environment. It is still closed. All of this nuclear waste must be monitored and easily accessible for perpetuity.

However, since it was public, albeit run by private contractors, there were multiple levels of oversight. If it had been private it might have been more easily hidden.

Standing Rock White House visit
Standing Rock American Indian Reservation, ca 2014

Energy Transfer Partners-Dakota Access Pipeline appear to have metaphorically shot themselves in the foot with the use of attack dogs against peaceful American Indian protestors. This forced the US DOJ to take serious action. The proposed Government to Government, Nation to Nation, discussions will probably take at least one year, probably more. Thus, the Obama administration throws the situation to the next president. These are American Indian Nations. Their status is unique. Hence the government to government discussions, which are in order. https://miningawareness.wordpress.com/2016/09/09/joint-statement-from-the-dept-of-justice-dept-of-the-army-and-the-dept-of-the-interior-regarding-standing-rock-sioux-tribe-v-u-s-army-corps-of-engineers/

The head of the US DOJ, Loretta Lynch, “was born on May 21, 1959, in Greensboro, North Carolina. Her mother was a school librarian and her father a Baptist minister. As a child, she spent hours with her father, watching court proceedings in the courthouse of Durham, North Carolina. Her early interest in court proceedings was compounded by stories of her grandfather, a sharecropper and pastor, who in the 1930s helped people move to the north to escape prosecutions under the racist Jim Crow laws of the time.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loretta_Lynch She was a small child during the Civil Rights movement.
