The original deadline for opposing the import of 200 tonnes of German nuclear waste to America was March 11th. Now they have changed it to today, which is Good Friday for non-Orthodox Christians. So, they changed it from the 5 years anniversary of Fukushima to the day of Jesus’ Crucifixion. Tacit threat or warning? This dumping was orchestrated by the then German Minister of Education and Research, who is now German Ambassador to the Vatican: Annette Schavan, who was stripped of her Ph.D. due to alleged plagiarism of a dissertation on ethics! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annette_Schavan
See these and surrounding posts for details of the nuclear waste dumping plan:
The proposed plans include probable dilution and burial of the German nuclear waste in either west Texas or Utah. As these fill up it may end up anywhere. US states are fighting between themselves, and sueing the Federal government (i.e. the taxpayer), because no one wants the US commercial nuclear waste; nor the US government nuclear waste. Meanwhile, the Obama Administration is allocating almost $2 billion of taxpayer money to import foreign nuclear waste, while pretending it’s about non-proliferation. Germany is not alone in targetting America as its nuclear dumping ground. Dilution will mean much more than 200 tonnes. Buried nuclear waste will come back up sooner or later, probably explosively, due to corrosion, and concrete liners will crack and it will leak into groundwater. Low in the grave it may lay, but it will arise from the grave and carry people and animals to the grave.

Low in the grave it lays…
Until up from the Grave it Explodes! In the interim it may leak into the water table-aquifers and waterways.

The US DOE has unofficially (not published in Federal Register) extended the German waste dumping on America comment deadline. To be anonymous you will have to send a disposable email, or send it by post with no return address. Especially if you decide NOT to be anonymous in your comment, we recommend that you go whole hog and call and complain to anyone in government that you can think of, as well as everyone you know. And, write them for the record.
People should have the right to “vote” anonymously, either on the Federal Register web site, or on an election day ballot.
As announced. Though they say Eastern Standard Time (EST) it is probably Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), as time has changed to daylight savings time: “Comments may be submitted by email to GermanSpentNuclearFuelEA@leidos.com. Direct written comments on the Draft Spent Nuclear Fuel from Germany EA to Tracy Williams, NEPA Compliance Officer, U.S. Department of Energy, P.O. Box B, Aiken, South Carolina 29802. DOE has extended the public comment period in response to several requests. The public comment period now ends March 25, 2016. DOE will consider all comments received via email by 11:59PM Eastern Standard Time or postmarked by that date. Comments submitted after that date and time will be considered to the extent practicable.” http://energy.gov/nepa/ea-1977-acceptance-and-disposition-spent-nuclear-fuel-containing-us-origin-highly-enriched The following article had some good ideas-points. They recommended contacting governmental reps and wondered if the Presidential candidates are aware: http://www.examiner.com/article/radioactive-waste-shipment-to-srs-public-comment-period-extended https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Time_Zone
