The deadline for comment on the US NRC 100 mSv per year exposure proposal, also known as cancer for everyone, is November 19th. Network-Organize! Whine and complain to government officials and everyone else! http://www.regulations.gov/#!docketDetail;D=NRC-2015-0057
According to BEIR VII per 100 mSv, i.e. per year, excess cancer rate is approximately 1%. The new INWORKS (Richardson et. al. Oct. 2015, BMJ) study suggests that this would be approximately 10%! 10 years of 100 mSv would lead to approximately one excess cancer for everyone. Since many get cancer already, many will have multiple cancers. Who will pay for this? This is an externalized cost of the nuclear utilities and nuclear weapons complex for which they must be held accountable!

Deadline for opening round of US NRC “Value of Life” comments is November 3rd, 11.59 PM Read more here: https://miningawareness.wordpress.com/2015/10/30/usnrc-value-of-death-update-all-tricks-no-value-of-life-no-medical-care-or-caregiver-costs/

November 3rd is also the deadline to submit comments-register to give comments by phone re US EPA radiation exposure updates. (See more info below). Will the Committee account for the findings that low dose radiation is approximately 10 times more dangerous than even the BEIR VII report said? The lead author of the new research article, David B. Richardson, is the chair of this committee! Will people hold his feet to the fire?

The deadline for comment on the US NRC 100 mSv per year exposure proposal, also known as cancer for everyone, is November 19th. Network-Organize! http://www.regulations.gov/#!docketDetail;D=NRC-2015-0057

death grim reaper
Truly appropriate dates as from 31 October into early November is traditional death of the year-days of the dead in many places. On the old Christian calendars, this was All Hallows’ (31 Oct.), All Saints’ (1st Nov.), and All Souls’ (2nd Nov.) but in Haiti and Latin America the festivities last longer.

More importantly, complain to your government officials, as well. In fact, whine and complain about this potential 100 mSv per year genocide to as many people as you can. According to BEIR VII per 100 mSv, i.e. per year, excess cancers is approximately 1%. The new INWORKS study suggests that this would be approximately 10%! 10 years of 100 mSv would lead to approximately one excess cancer for everyone. Since many get cancer already, many will have multiple cancers. Who will pay for this? This is an externalized cost of the nuclear utilities and nuclear weapons complex for which they must start paying!

In the context of the recent Richardson et. al. 2015 nuclear workers (INWORKS) study, Gy is equivalent to Sv. Thus, the excess relative risk of cancer DEATH (mortality) per 1000 mSv (1 Sv) is 51%. For 100 mSv it is 5.1%. Excess cancers (morbidity) would be roughly double: 99-100% for 1000 mSv and 10% for 100 mSv. (Compare this to BEIR VII which is 1% Excess cancer risk per 100 mSv and 10% per 1000 mSv.)
Table 2 Est. of Excess Relative Rate Cancer Deaths INWORKS, Richardson et. al. 2015
Richardson et. al., 2015, BMJ

However, that is with 10 years of lag time! Over the course of 15 years the cancer death rate goes up to 58% per Sv (1000 mSv), as seen here:
Table A1 showing 5, 10, 15 yr time lag; Richardson et. al. 2015 BMJ INWORKS

EPA will brief the RAC on this proposed rule making’s scientific aspects, and members of the public will be able to speak and submit written comments. Beyond Nuclear has commented earlier and has updated talking points available./ The first public teleconference will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET on November 10, 2015. http://www.beyondnuclear.org/home/2015/10/26/take-action-tell-epa-scientific-panel-to-protect-the-vulnera.html

Chair of the Advisory Committee is the lead author (Richardson) on the new INWORKS study which indicates that dangers of “low dose” radiation may be 10 times, or more, dangerous than previously thought. Will this be taken into consideration? This was a 3 country study funded by mostly pro-nuclear entities. An earlier 15 country study put the risk as even higher! http://yosemite.epa.gov/sab/sabpeople.nsf/WebCommitteesSubcommittees/Radiation%20Advisory%20Committee

In this interview with Reuters, Richardson says that the radiation protection standards for nuclear workers need to be updated, and risk-benefit examined for medical uses of radiation, but no mention is made of the general public’s exposure to routine or accidental emissions from nuclear facilities, including nuclear reactors! Nuclear workers and medical uses of radiation involve some benefit to the person exposed. There is no benefit for the general public! Furthermore, this article says that excess cancer rates (morbidity) were 51% per Sv (1000mSv), whereas it is excess cancer DEATH (mortality) rates. However, the original INWORKS article makes this unclear in spots, so it’s not totally Reuters fault. They probably didn’t have time to read it 22 times! “Small radiation doses over long time up cancer risk as much as single, larger exposure” Wed, 10/28/15 – 10:42, By Anne Harding, NEW YORK (Reuters Health) http://www.consultant360.com/story/small-radiation-doses-over-long-time-cancer-risk-much-single-larger-exposure

China uses France to come in the nuclear back door, by giving French State owned Areva and EDF money. They both, in turn, will feed off of the British taxpayer (and probably the US taxpayer, as well.)

Questions are raised as to why nuclear commissioning is estimated as being so much lower in France and the UK, as compared to Germany.

As long forecast, clean water is increasingly precious, even as the nuclear industry continues to destroy it, especially with cooling water. Why are some Middle Eastern countries getting nuclear reactors?

Additional information relevant to the value of life comment. Much has been made in recent decades about children being the future. While this is true, consideration should be given to the value of older, educated, people. For decades around half of the populations of many countries are young and uneducated. In a world that has continued to ignore that population replacement is 2 children, there is no shortage of children, who have yet to be educated. And, the world has flipped from one extreme to the other. If historically children had few rights, now it is older people that have few rights. Nonetheless, older people CAN vote. Children cannot. Neither can plants or animals.

Human capital is the stock of knowledge, habits, social and personality attributes, including creativity, embodied in the ability to perform labor so as to produce economic value.

Alternatively, Human capital is a collection of resources—all the knowledge, talents, skills, abilities, experience, intelligence, training, judgment, and wisdom possessed individually and collectively by individuals in a population. These resources are the total capacity of the people that represents a form of wealth which can be directed to accomplish the goals of the nation or state or a portion thereof.

It is an aggregate economic view of the human being acting within economies, which is an attempt to capture the social, biological, cultural and psychological complexity as they interact in explicit and/or economic transactions. Many theories explicitly connect investment in human capital development to education, and the role of human capital in economic development, productivity growth, and innovation has frequently been cited as a justification for government subsidies for education and job skills training https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_capital
