These images or something similar will probably stay on top until a) pro-nuclear people volunteer to work at nuclear waste sites (WIPP, Fukushima, Hanford, etc.) in droves, and b) the nuclear industry is shut down. Then, after b), there will still be the problem of a) the nuclear waste to be secured. We live on borrowed time. Let’s shut the nuclear industry down now!
Let’s hurry up people!

54 years ago, in 1961, US President and former General Eisenhower warned : “In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist… We want democracy to survive for all generations to come, not to become the insolvent phantom of tomorrow.” See more here at new post: http://wp.me/p2FMRA-4N3 (Nuclear Industrial Complex: Academic sell-out; Plundering Precious Resources; Insolvent Democracy – General, President Eisenhower warned of it in 1961, 54 years ago.) While he warned about the military industrial complex, the nuclear industrial complex is its offshoot. The US Atomic Energy Act was 61 years ago in 1954.

Investment in innovation must be investment in real new innovation and not recycling past failures as the US government does in its support of the nuclear industry. They keep recycling the nuclear “technologies” which had the worst failures and the US DOE throws them billions. This is billions beyond the billions for nuclear weapons and billions beyond the billions spent on clean-up of old nuclear messes.

The head of BP claiming to be from the US Gulf Coast appears mostly PR. He was born in New York, graduated from High School in Chicago, and sometime in between claims to have lived in Mississippi, one hour from the coast. That does not a native make! He was not head of BP during the accident but appointed as an apparent PR stunt.

No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend’s or of thine own were: any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.” “Meditation #17 By John Donne From Devotions upon Emergent Occasions (1623), XVII“: https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Meditation_XVII.

Bouygues gets a tiny slap on the wrist for using illegal workers at the EDF-AREVA nuclear reactor construction site (flop). At least one worker died on the construction site too.

Recall that Toshiba owns Westinghouse, which in conjunction with GDF Suez (called something else), is trying to build a huge nuclear power station at Moorside near Sellafield in Cumbria.

The UK has not only gotten rid of its renewable subsidies, all while leaving its subsidy to the nuclear industry, but is also taking away tax incentives to use renewable energy!

Norway is investing in Scottish renewables. Maybe they don’t want any additional radioactive water coming their way and poisoning their salmon, so they invest in renewables?

Frenchman Pascal Lamy says he has to tell the Germans which way to go on Trade Deal. Is he that arrogant or just dim-witted? He used to be head of the WTO. No wonder the world is in trouble.

He told Reuters: “The Germans were pushing the French in the right direction. Now, I have to go and tell the French to go and help the Germans“.

Pascal Lamy (born 8 April 1947) is a French political consultant and businessman. He was the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) until 1 September 2013. His appointment took effect on 1 September 2005 for a four-year term. In April 2009, WTO members reappointed Lamy for a second four-year term, beginning on 1 September 2009. He was then succeeded by Roberto Azevêdo. Pascal Lamy was also European Commissioner for Trade and is currently the Honorary President of the Paris-based think tank, Notre Europe.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pascal_Lamy

Burkina pilgrimage site endangered by True Gold mine
19 Cent Penny Stock Canada Miner “True Gold” will Endanger Sufi Pilgrimage Site with open pit gold mine in Burkina Faso

New CEO of True Gold is David Laing who has been head of a laundry list of different companies – something which needs to be examined.

Are those protesting the open pit gold mine the “terrorists” mentioned in Zida’s speech who require military presence in the north? On June 12th Zida assured the investors that measures were taken to protect their property! How about the people’s ancestral lands? He says that the problems related to the living together of mines and the surrounding populations, and between artisanal and industrial miners, and of demands of mining workers, had a negative impact on the overall performance of the mining sector. (“Discours sur la situation de la nation prononcé par le Premier ministre Yacouba Isaac Zida le 12 juin 2015.” Vendredi 12 Juin 2015 http://www.gouvernement.gov.bf/spip.php?article1508)
True Gold and Sufi Pilgrimage site
On June 5, 2015, LeFaso. net reported in an article, “Protests against True Gold Inc.: the Government hardens its tone”, that protests followed the granting by the government, on 31 December 2013, of an exploitation permit to True Gold in the village of Karma situated not far from Ramatoulaye, an important pilgrimage site for Sufism in Burkina Faso. The population believes that the (open pit) mine will lead to the entire village being moved, along with its religious monuments and the tombs of the Cheick. (“Manifestations contre la société True Gold : le Gouvernement durcit le ton” vendredi 5 juin 2015. http://www.lefaso.net/spip.php?article65085 )

According to Italian wikipedia:
Ramatoulaye is a village of 619 inhabitants in the department of Namissiguima (province of Yatenga, region North) in Burkina Faso. It is the seat of an Islamic community, a follower of the variant “of the eleven pearls”, Tijāniyyah Sufi order (founded by Sīdī ‘Ahmad al-Tijani, who lived from 1737 to 1815). The community was founded around 1920 by Aboubakr Maiga, returning from a pilgrimage to Mecca on foot and the city hosts many pilgrims on the occasion of the celebration of Mouloud (birth of Muhammad).https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramatoulaye

Another Burkina Faso news site explained last December 8th that Truegold decided – contrary to all expectations- to soon open the entrance to the mine on the hill called « Naabtenga » situated less than 200 meters from the schools and less than 400 meters from the Ramatoulaye Mosque. It was this news which mobilized the sons and daughters of the department.

Guiro Sayouba, President of the Youth Association «Béogo Néeré» for the Departement of Namissiguima observed that if the project goes forward that there will be pollution of the underground aquifer with chemicals, which will force the populations to leave the area. He said that they were determined to make this project fail, because it is their existence on the land of their ancestors which is at stake. Truegold will be responsible for the consequences of its acts, he said. Sana Mahamadi, grand muezzin of the mosque of Ramatoulaye pointed out that there is gold all over Burkina so that they can go someplace else. Concern was expressed by the head of the artisanal miners that dynamite so close to the mosque, houses and other public buildings will lead to their collapse. (“Les populations opposées à l’ouverture d’une mine à Ramatoulaye“, Publié le mercredi 10 decembre 2014 http://news.aouaga.com/h/39451.html)

In the academic book, “Un islam confrérique au Burkina Faso. Actualité etniyya mémoire d’une branche de la Tijâniyya“, 2013, by Felice Dassetto, Pierre-Joseph Laurent et Tasséré Ouédraogo, 276 pp., the summary explains that, for the celebration Mouloud, thousands of pilgrims come from Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Mali, Ghana and elsewhere. On p. 220 they discuss the economic and social importance of the pilgrims to the town. https://www.uclouvain.be/431368.html

Everyone needs to be on the lookout to see if Obama buys a house in Kenya when he goes there in July, to escape the mess he has perpetuated, and contributed to, in the US. Notice that his paternal homeland of Kenya is getting Wind Power. The US is getting more nuclear and Obama’s Exelon donors, and others, get to keep the old ones running.

The Middle East is going nuclear. The US government ExIm Bank is helping to fund a Korean built nuclear reactor for the United Arab Emirates, and the French and Russians are helping Saudi Arabia go nuclear!
