New Post: https://miningawareness.wordpress.com/2015/01/15/why-was-the-sellafield-change-leaked-to-media-in-advance/ The companies involved are international so should be of interest to everyone.
Flamanville construction site
Bouygues, and two other companies working on EDF’s new nuclear reactor (EPR) in Flamanville France, were charged with involuntary homicide (manslaughter) after the death in January 2011 of a welder at the site. The bridge on which he was working was struck by a crane, which was being driven by someone who was under the influence of cannabis. http://www.sortirdunucleaire.org/EPR-de-Flamanville-proces-de
The article doesn’t specify if he was smoking marijuana or had brought back space cakes from Amsterdam or what. However, according to this document (and others) cannabis is a hallucinogenic drug: http://www.nd.gov.hk/text/en/public/pdf/udap_cannabis.pdf

EDF is 84.4% French State owned. Its evil nuclear twin, AREVA, who appears in big doodoo up to its eyebrows over UraMin, and maybe other things, is 89.9% French State owned. Then the new head of EDF has the unmitigated gall to talk about Germany’s green subsidies? EDF and AREVA’s very existence hinges on the French taxpayer dole. Has radiation made his brain unhinged? (Unfortunately, we were unable to find his original statement to see if it made anymore sense in French or in context.)

But, it made us wonder, once again, if the low level workers are the only ones on hallucinogenic drugs? Or, is the only hallucinogenic drug perpetuating the nuclear industry money and power? You can’t take it with you when you die!

The new nuclear reactor (EPR) at Flamanville is years behind and overpriced and been characterized by problems with concrete and rebar. Spaced out workers wouldn’t help.

Iran vows to help Venezuela to stem oil price fall

Reuters Ends

Did the Ayatollah’s brain fall out? There have been similar idiotic statements elsewhere online. Of course oil prices will drop if everyone continues to produce as much as they can and dump it on the market! Duh! There were recent meetings of some oil producing nations and everyone, including Russia, refused to reduce production!

Yep, the US is messing with various oil and gas producing countries by producing lots and lots of oil and gas, especially with fracking. This is obviously destroying the environment in the US, but it also gives Russia, Iran and others a major oil and gas competitor. US oil producers are not happy with the low oil prices either, everyone can be certain. Now the extra oil is being stored in supertankers, which sounds potentially dangerous for the environment!

The new heads of 89% French state owned Areva, Philippe Knoche and Philippe Varin, are “X-Mines” ( l’École des Mines (founded in 1783) et de l’École polytechnique (founded in 1794) elites of the Napoleonic French State. Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose. Knoche was born in Strasbourg and is half German. Still no word of cause of death of Luc Oursel, that we’ve seen. http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippe_Knoche http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippe_Varin

Rather interesting that the elite French corps had to bring in a Scotsman – Rankine – to solve the problem of metal fatigue in a rail crash, in 1842, when Polytechnique (l’X) had been in existence for 48 years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Versailles_rail_accident

They really have to do a study to show that US states with oil have the “greatest revenue volatility”?

Can the French Really Be Trusted with Protecting UK Nuclear Installations?

Either the UK shouldn’t be trusting the French to protect their nuclear installations or the attack on Charlie Hebdo was not by Islamists, but rather due to critique of someone within the French government: “The editor, Stephane Charbonnier, had been under police protection, having received death threats. He and three other cartoonists were among those killed by the gunmen in the massacre on Wednesday.” “Charlie Hebdo and its place in French journalism“, 7 Jan. 2015 http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-15551998

We found the following retweet by Charlie Hebdo: “Un ex-juriste d’Areva témoin dans affaire #Uramin cambriolé 3j avant son audition à la brigade financière @Charlie_Hebdo_ #lanceursdalerte 9:45pm – 17 Dec 14” (A former lawyer of Areva, witness in the Uramin affair was burglarized 3 days before his hearing by the financial brigade). Laurent Leger, the source of the tweet, seems to have survived the attack, suggesting that the French probably can’t be trusted in protection of nuclear installations, rather than that they stepped on political toes. See: http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laurent_Léger Oh, wait, France had all those drone fly-overs, too, about which they seem to have been helpless.

From a search showing that they did address serious political topics, and not just thumb their noses at all religions:
Investigations | Charlie Hebdo”
http://www.charliehebdo.fr/news/rubrique-enquete-10-p-6
“Charlie Hebdo … le pétrole, des pots-de-vin, une vingtaine de prévenus dont Total et son PDG, Christophe de Margerie, Pasqua, d’anciens ambassadeurs…

(Charlie Hebdo … oil, bribery, twenty defendants including Total and its CEO, Christophe de Margerie, Pasqua, former ambassadors …) Note that since the attack, the web site is blocked with signs saying “We are Charlie” in various languages. Recent covers include some making fun of President Hollande, and one making fun of Jesus’ birth.

Last November in charlie hebdo n°1171 (26 novembre 2014) they noted that de Margerie died without being judged. Pasqua and de Margerie appeared in court over the oil for food scandal and seemed to have gotten off, apparently on a technicality, that bribery wasn’t illegal at the time: “Mr. Pasqua and two former high-ranking diplomats were accused of influence-trafficking and corruption. Mr. de Margerie was accused of ‘complicity in the abuse of company assets’ and ‘complicity in corrupting foreign officials.http://www.nytimes.com/2013/07/09/business/global/total-and-french-officials-cleared-in-iraq-oil-for-food-case.html

This case was settled in the US: http://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/french-oil-and-gas-company-total-sa-charged-united-states-and-france-connection-international but the procureur of Paris discussed putting de Margerie-Total back on trial in France, several days before de Margerie’s airplane mysteriously hit a snow plow. This has reportedly been confirmed as of the 24 of November. So, in fact, Charlie Hebdo was correct – de Margerie died, end of October, before he was judged. The reader may recall that former CEO of French State Nuclear giant Areva, Luc d’Oursel, also mysteriously died recently of unknown causes, and Areva is apparently in judicial and financial trouble. A tiny percentage of Total, 0.3% was actually owned by Areva. Being a French CEO appears risky business.

Notice that the proposed new build nuclear reactors in the UK do not correspond to lights-energy use. “Baroness” Verma of Leicester is promoting the new nuclear build. Look at light use in Leicester vs. Cumbria (Moorside) and Somerset (Hinkley Point) where new nuclear reactors are proposed. Some is from cars, but it’s supposed to roughly correspond with energy use. Leicester is about as far from new or old nuclear reactors as you can get in England.

If indeed they have gotten the rice down to 100 Bq/kg it may have to do with adding potassium to the soil, which helps block the cesium uptake by plants, and they probably only are testing for cesium. Plus 100 Bq/kg is still very high.

Fukushima rice supposedly now at or below 100 Bq/kg or 100 radioactive emissions per kg. This is 1/10th or less of what is now allowed in Australia, Canada and the US. There is no safe level of ionizing radiation. Increased exposure is increased risk. This is all the more true for alpha emitters such as plutonium and americium, which are rarely tested for.

Cascadia subduction zone north to south USGS via wikipedia

subduction zone, earthquakes, USGS ca 2007
USGS ca 2007 via Wikipedia
The Cascadia subduction zone can produce very large earthquakes (“megathrust earthquakes”), magnitude 9.0 or greater, if rupture occurs over its whole area. When the “locked” zone stores up energy for an earthquake, the “transition” zone, although somewhat plastic, can rupture. Great Subduction Zone earthquakes are the largest earthquakes in the world, and can exceed magnitude 9.0. Earthquake magnitude is proportional to area of fault rupture, and the Cascadia Subduction Zone is a very long sloping fault that stretches from mid-Vancouver Island to Northern California.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cascadia_subduction_zone

Up to date detailed evaluations of the potential impacts of earthquakes on the Hanford Nuclear Site and Columbia Nuclear Generating Station apparently still need to be done. The potential impacts of earthquakes on Hanford-Columbia Nuclear Station, including from the Cascadia subduction zone, are now thought more severe than was previously believed. A study of the dams upstream from Hanford-Columbia Nuclear Station was commissioned by the utilities and undertaken, in part, by URS who manages the Hanford site waste tanks and is, or was, constructing the waste treatment facility. Thus both parties have an interest in understating earthquake or other risks to the dams.

The 1700 Cascadia Earthquake caused Tsunamis up and down the east coast of Japan: “The evidence suggests that it took place at about 21:00 on January 26, 1700 (NS). Although there were no written records in the region at the time, the earthquake’s precise time is nevertheless known from Japanese records of a tsunami that has not been tied to any other Pacific Rim earthquake.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1700_Cascadia_earthquake
