Post updated: https://miningawareness.wordpress.com/2014/06/12/radioactive-reindeer-nuclear-guinea-pigs-part-xi-of-a-series/
Reblog of post regarding transport of nuclear waste by rail in the UK: https://miningawareness.wordpress.com/2014/07/10/not-so-brief-encounter-nuclear-waste-trains/ Waste from Japan has even been sent to Sellafield in Cumbria, England for “reprocessing” and back again!
Germany wants to send High Level nuclear waste from both the Julich Research Facility in Germany (near Aachen) and ALSO from another old reactor near Ahaus to South Carolina USA. This would be its trajectory from Julich, near Aachen Germany: most likely up the Rhine or Meuse to Rotterdam, across the Atlantic and reportedly by train from Charleston to Aiken, SC – across almost the entire state of South Carolina by train. The Julich Research Facility has a new “master plan” for dolling up their facility and they don’t want any old nuclear waste in their way to mess up their “plan”, it seems. Additionally, the nearby coal mine could be expanding – hard to tell.
If you think that shipping and dumping German High Level Nuclear Waste in the USA is wrong or a plain dumb idea, before 21 July 2014, please contact: Mr. Andrew Grainger, drew.grainger@srs.gov, NEPA Compliance Officer, U.S.Department of Energy
They harass people at airports, and subject them to x-rays in some airports, and then they lose nuclear material in Iraq and pretend it’s no big deal. Lost in Mexico it’s a big deal. Lost in Iraq, no biggie.

It is much more than its title. About half deals with racism but half deals with other things, such as standards and the recycling of radioactive waste into consumer goods by European Studsvik (and others). There are graphs showing radionuclides in the Baltic. In short, if you are in North America, around the Baltic, or in the UK-Ireland, there is a part of importance for you. Recall that US EPA radioactive emission standards comments are coming due shortly – beginning of August.
How about appointing someone other than nuclear experts for the top one and two positions of the US Department of Energy? It’s supposed to be Department of Energy and not Department of Nuclear. They have the NRC already. Although her position is supposed to be non-proliferation, it is doubtful it will be about non-proliferation of the US nuclear industry. More likely she will import more nuclear waste into the US due to its poor radiation standards and call it non-proliferation, as Obama’s been doing. US citizens beware – pay attention to the EPA standards coming due for it is the only hope to save the country from becoming a world nuclear dump – and we mean even into regular landfills. Read the new post and you will see what we mean. Especially read references – additional reading in the post.

Post updated: https://miningawareness.wordpress.com/2014/06/12/radioactive-reindeer-nuclear-guinea-pigs-part-xi-of-a-series/
Radioactive B-12 from Nuclear Power Plant Emissions!
It just keeps getting worse and worse! Cobalt is at the center of Vitamin B-12. According to the EPA, citing the NRC, “Radionuclides released to surface water include tritium, isotopes of cobalt, and cesium.” Tritium binds to become tritiated, radioactive, water, cesium mimics potassium and now radioactive cobalt makes radioactive B-12! These are all essential for life. Potassium and Vitamin B-12 are essential for brain and nerve functioning. This is so very evil.
“Vitamin B12, vitamin B12 or vitamin B-12, also called cobalamin, is a water-soluble vitamin with a key role in the normal functioning of the brain and nervous system, and for the formation of blood. It is one of the eight B vitamins. It is normally involved in the metabolism of every cell of the human body, especially affecting DNA synthesis and regulation, but also fatty acid synthesis (especially odd chain fatty acids) and energy production“. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_B12 (Emphasis added)
“In general, the impacts of radiological emissions are evaluated through assessing sources, pathways, and predicted doses to people and organisms. Persons may be exposed to radiation originating in a nuclear power reactor through atmospheric and aquatic pathways (see Figure 6-1). Radioactive fission products (noble gases and some of the more volatile materials like tritium, isotopes of iodine, and cesium) and activation products are released to the air under controlled conditions. Radioactive materials in the liquid effluents are processed in radioactive waste treatment systems. Radionuclides released to surface water include tritium, isotopes of cobalt, and cesium. In both cases, careful monitoring ensures compliance with permitted release limits (NRC 1996, Section 2.3.7.2).” http://www.epa.gov/compliance/resources/policies/nepa/309-reviewers-guidance-for-new-nuclear-power-plant-EISs-pg.pdf Note that there are permitted release limits and yet these all stay in the environment for decades to 100s of years!
This means they accumulate!
COBALT “The radionuclide, cobalt-60, is produced for commercial use in linear accelerators. It is also produced as a by-product of nuclear reactor operations, when structural materials, such as steel, are exposed to neutron radiation.” The half-life of cobalt-60 is 5.27 years. http://www.epa.gov/rpdweb00/radionuclides/cobalt.html
The number of years to reach 0.78% of the original quantity is Half Life x 7. The number of years to reach 0.0015% of the original quantity is Half Life x 16. This means that Co 60 will be around for about 84 years. 84 years ago was 1930. Cobalt is part of the very important vitamin B12. So, radioactive cobalt would effectively produce radioactive B-12. Scary! This is legalized murder, even without an accident!
Tritium has a half-life of 12 years so contaminated water will be radioactive for 192 years!
Cesium 137 has a half life of around 30 years. Pu-239 has a half-life of 24,100 years, and Pu-240 has a half-life of 6,560 years. Americium 241 has a half-life of 432 years. (Plutonium and Americium are all alpha emitters, highly dangerous upon ingestion, inhalation or absorption. They enter the body as a mimic to iron and cause physiological disruption as well as chromosomal damage). Cesium 137 will be around for 480 years. We’ll let you do the math for the others. 480 years ago was 1534 AD (CE).
DEADLINE REGARDING US EPA STANDARDS IS 3 AUGUST – A SUNDAY AT AROUND NOON EASTERN TIME. SEE MORE AT 2 JULY LINK. IT IS ABOUT HOW MUCH THEY CAN LEGALLY LEAK FROM NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS AND apparently WASTE DUMPS LIKE WIPP! Also, any reprocessing – everything but mining.

https://miningawareness.wordpress.com/2014/07/06/plutonium-release-from-fukushima-daiichi-fosters-the-need-for-more-detailed-investigations/
We posted the article above, not just to show that there was plutonium released at Fukushima, but mostly to show the challenges of testing for plutonium. Please do NOT buy Canberra brand, however, as it is part of nasty AREVA. It is best to buy testing equipment from a company which is not selling and promoting nuclear, if possible. Also, it is important to read the document multiple times, if you can. It is an “as is”, no derivatives Creative Commons paper, so we did not underline anything (some of you will be very relieved about this; others not). The link to the original pdf is provided so that people can do their own underlining and highlighting.
Will the Pope ask next for population control, please! It is needed to help protect nature! The Bible said to fill the earth, not to overflow it! Europe may fall into one fracking sinkhole, like much of the US may, if they go the fracking road.

Stolen Radioactive Materials in Mexico for the second time in less than a year. Last missing radioactive waste was in December of 2013.
According to the US NRC: “Loss Of Offsite Power It is recognized that the availability of ac power to commercial nuclear power plants is essential for safe operations and accident recovery. A loss of offsite power (LOOP) event, therefore, is considered an important contributor to total risk at nuclear power plants.” Thus, the recent US power outages increase risk, if they impacted nuclear power plants, which they most likely did.

“Lord Mungo Murray (Am Morair Mungo Moireach), ca 1680, by John Michael Wright
German King George II of the UK, outlawed the wearing of the Tartan, as well as speaking of the Gaelic language, subsequent to the 1745 rising against him and in favor of a Scottish King. Punishment for a second offence was deportation to the Americas (“plantations” is where they “planted” colonists; the first were in Ireland, but “beyond the seas” sounds more like the Americas). Deportees and their descendants, later fought against his son’s rule in the American Revolution:
“Abolition and Proscription of the Highland Dress 19 George II, Chap. 39, Sec. 17, 1746:
That from and after the first day of August, One thousand, seven hundred and forty-six, no man or boy within that part of Britain called Scotland, other than such as shall be employed as Officers and Soldiers in His Majesty’s Forces, shall, on any pretext whatever, wear or put on the clothes commonly called Highland clothes (that is to say) the Plaid, Philabeg, or little Kilt, Trowse, Shoulder-belts, or any part whatever of what peculiarly belongs to the Highland Garb; and that no tartan or party-coloured plaid of stuff shall be used for Great Coats or upper coats, and if any such person shall presume after the said first day of August, to wear or put on the aforesaid garment or any part of them, every such person so offending … For the first offence, shall be liable to be imprisoned for 6 months, and on the second offence, to be transported to any of His Majesty’s plantations beyond the seas, there to remain for the space of seven years.
Repeal
On July 1st 1782 Royal assent was given to Repeal of the Act Proscribing the Wearing of Highland Dress 22 George III, Chap. 63, 1782 and a proclamation issued in Gaelic and English announced” (Emphasis added) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dress_Act Like they would go back, after 7 years!

The American Revolution was fought against George III, King of the UK and King of Hanover Germany. He was the grandfather of Queen Victoria of England. Queen Elizabeth II of the UK is great-great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria. Elizabeth is very much a German monarch though also descended from some British Royals. Her family changed their name to “Windsor” when the UK was at war with Germany during World War I. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancestry_of_Elizabeth_II
Queen Victoria in her coronation robes, by George Hayter, 1860
“Victoria (Alexandrina Victoria; 24 May 1819 – 22 January 1901) was the monarch of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from 20 June 1837 until her death. From 1 May 1876, she used the additional title of Empress of India.
Victoria was the daughter of Prince Edward, Duke of Kent and Strathearn, the fourth son of King George III. Both the Duke of Kent and King George III died in 1820, and Victoria was raised under close supervision by her German-born mother Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld. She inherited the throne at the age of 18, after her father’s three elder brothers had all died, leaving no legitimate, surviving children…
Since 1714, Britain had shared a monarch with Hanover in Germany, but under Salic law women were excluded from the Hanoverian succession. While Victoria inherited all the British dominions, Hanover passed instead to her father’s younger brother, her unpopular uncle the Duke of Cumberland and Teviotdale, who became King Ernest Augustus I of Hanover. He was her heir presumptive until she married and had a child…
The United Kingdom was already an established constitutional monarchy, in which the sovereign held relatively little direct political power. Privately, Victoria attempted to influence government policy and ministerial appointments. Publicly, she became a national icon, and was identified with strict standards of personal morality.
Victoria married her first cousin, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, in 1840. Their nine children married into royal and noble families across the continent, tying them together and earning her the nickname ‘the grandmother of Europe’. After Albert’s death in 1861, Victoria plunged into deep mourning and avoided public appearances. As a result of her seclusion, republicanism temporarily gained strength, but in the latter half of her reign, her popularity recovered. Her Golden and Diamond Jubilees were times of public celebration.” (Emphasis our own) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_Victoria Note ties to the many German Royal Houses, Denmark-Norway, Greece, Romania and Russia.

“Syria chemical weapons leave Italy in US ship”
3 July 2014 Last updated at 00:38 GMT http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-28125684 Excerpt from article: “In Italy, the ‘most critical’ chemical agents are being loaded onto the US Maritime Administration cargo ship, MV Cape Ray, to be destroyed by hydrolysis in international waters. Less-toxic chemicals will be shipped by Norwegian and Danish vessels for disposal at commercial facilities.”
It is supposed to be a closed system, but take 2 to 3 months to process.
If there were a problem:
“Because sarin vapor is heavier than air, it will sink to low-lying areas and create a greater exposure hazard there.” http://www.bt.cdc.gov/agent/sarin/basics/facts.asp

Time to start studying what’s in those US EPA Radiation Rules Before it’s too late!
US EPA comment deadline for 3 August 2014: http://www.epa.gov/radiation/laws/190/
(“Environmental Standards for Uranium Fuel Cycle Facilities: Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPR) Comment period extended to August 3, 2014”)
Americans and Canadians need to ask for public hearings. Probably will involve waste dumping standards along with power plant standards for legal leakage. One environmental org is asking for hearings near nuclear facilities but especially since the US gov is running around begging for foreign nuclear waste, there is likely a nuclear dump coming near you, if you live in the US or the Canadian southern rim. Mexicans should be concerned too, and demand hearings. However much radiation is legally leaked, the standard must include ALL radionuclides emitted, or potentially emitted, and not a select one or two! For instance, if they use the ICRP 1 mSV (per year) exposure standard, then this must be 1mSv of ALL radionuclides and not just 1 mSv of one isotope of radioiodine! Several countries use 1/10th of the ICRP standard for safety, i.e. 0.1mSv. This exposure is over and about “background”. That is, the legally leaked radiation standard is added together with “background”. Average world “background” now includes Fukushima and Chernobyl, along with historic fallout from nuclear bombs and bomb “tests”. Each time they create accidents, average background apparently goes up! Plus the EPA needs to have a water standard for Nuclear Power Plant Emissions. There is none. One or two environmental groups are reported to be working on providing information for people to help them comment, but it is a complex topic and requires study. The month left is really too little.
Radiation at the Beach?
Got to wonder if people at St. Bees beach don’t know that Sellafield is there?
If they do know that Sellafield is there, and put their children out on a beach on the Irish Sea, especially so close to Sellafield, they are rather dim anyway.
“The analysis shows that, whilst overall cumulative radioactive finds per hectare across the West Cumbrian coast have risen by 84% between 2008/09 and 2010/11, the total number of beach monitoring hectares has been reduced by 39% since 2008/09. It is evident that an increase of finds on a particular beach one year, does not result in increased beach monitoring in future years. This is not only the case at the high occupancy beaches at St Bees and Seascale, but also at Sellafield,… http://www.no2nuclearpower.org.uk/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Appendix_1.pdf
Beware the Winds
Tropical Storm Arthur – maybe Hurricane Arthur will be chugging up the coast by Savannah River site. Of course, any German waste must come into port. This tropical storm popped up quickly and locally.

Hurricanes spin off tornadoes. Plus there have been plenty of US tornados too in the news. Tornados spun off from hurricanes are sometimes the most deadly part.
Three years ago:

Europe: Watch your Foehn-wind direction as Syrian Chemical Weapons are unloaded and destroyed offshore in Italy
Parts of Europe may be protected by a Bise. Not clear if this chemical weapons operation is dangerous or not. Considering that most people weren’t warned about Chernobyl or Fukushima clouds going overhead, it might be better to be prudent with a major Foehn coming. If you are in Europe, check your wind direction and what’s happening in Italy and the Med!
It took us 2 decades to realize why former Freeport McMoRan CEO Jim Bob Moffat (the Mo in McMoRan) called Louisianians dumb for not wanting radioactive gypsum dumped into the Mississippi River – source of water for New Orleans and some other towns. Nuclear power plants, and other nuclear facilities, all up and down the Mississippi and its tributaries are legally allowed to dump radiation into the rivers. So, the water was already radioactive. They just didn’t know it!

Obama Thinks He is German Chancellor? – Proposes Dumping of German Nuclear Waste on South Carolina USA
This sounds like a sick joke, but it’s not. The Obama administration has already recently allowed the burning of German radioactive waste in Tennessee, USA (Jan. 2013). Now he is trying to import high level nuclear waste from a failed experimental Pebble Bed, commercial reactor, from Germany. It has already contaminated the forested area in which it is safely nestled in Germany, but Obama wants to import it to further contaminate the Savannah River Site. There is no permanent commercial nuclear waste facility in the USA – all waste stays dangerously perched on site at nuclear power plants around the country; the “permanent” non-commercial facility WIPP has suffered a waste explosion and will not re-open for years. The plan at WIPP is actually unmonitored room collapse; it is in salt, and so its eventual failure is inevitable anyway. One can only hope not to live to see it!
Numerous US states have sued, are suing, or have threatened suit against the US government for either inadequate funding of nuclear clean-up of national sites or failure to remove nuclear waste from national sites, to a “safe” facility, in a timely manner. There have been suits or threats of legal action by states and/or utilities over failure to provide a promised location for commercial waste. In the midst of the ongoing WIPP failure – cause still unknown – Obama and Moniz waltz in with the idea of importing German nuclear waste! How insane is that! One intervenor at the public hearing wondered if US commercial and military waste must stand in line behind German and other foreign commercial waste?
If you think that dumping German High Level Nuclear Waste in the USA is wrong or a plain dumb idea, before 21 July 2014, please contact: Mr. Andrew Grainger, drew.grainger@srs.gov, NEPA Compliance Officer, U.S.Department of Energy http://energy.gov/nepa/ea-1977-acceptance-and-disposition-used-nuclear-fuel-containing-us-origin-highly-enriched

Radiation Damage or Nuclear Pebbles on the Brain?
While it is mean-spirited for Germany to export its nuclear waste on the US and other countries (e.g. Russia, Italy) and, in conjunction with Merkel’s apparently cozy relationship with heavy industry, sniffs terribly of Nazi Germany, one cannot say that it is insane. It is mean-spirited, but sane, for Germany to foist its nuclear and other radioactive waste upon other countries. It is, however, abnormal to try to import nuclear waste to your country. On this grounds we suggest that Obama needs psychiatric help. A delusional US president who appears to think he is Chancellor of Germany represents a danger to the entire world, given US military capacity. Research suggests a relationship between ionizing radiation and Alzheimer’s disease: https://miningawareness.wordpress.com/2014/03/14/alzheimers-disease-and-ionizing-radiation/ We have amply documented the ability of plutonium and some other radionuclides to enter the brain, as mimics of iron. The ability of radioactive cesium to enter the brain as a potassium mimic is a no-brainer, for anyone knowing an iota of physiology. Considering nuclear fallout from nuclear bomb testing probably falling upon Hawaii; the Manhattan Project-Argonne Lab in Chicago, and the importance of nuclear reactors and the amount of radioactive waste in Illinois, perhaps Obama has gotten too much radiation on the brain and has lost his mind. Born at the peak of nuclear testing, born 2 months before the biggest nuclear test ever, Tsar Bomba, went off in Russia, he may have been damaged before or from birth and gotten radioactive strontium, radioiodine, plutonium and more in his milk, as a baby! Maybe the damage is just starting to kick-in? Or, maybe because he was not well-travelled, the European experience has gone to his head and he needs a shrink, in multiple senses! While Obama bears some resemblance to Mad King Ludwig of Bavaria, Ludwig built and loved lovely things, and accusations of insanity are now believed false. In stark contrast, nuclear is a hideous, odious, destructive, life-threatening thing, and Obama’s attempt to dump German nuclear waste on his own country, his own people, IS sheer madness. All the more, since his wife’s family is from South Carolina and likely he himself has distant family there! His mother-in-law lives with them, so it’s not an attempt to do-in a wicked mother-in-law! THAT might be sane!
“Ludwig II of Bavaria, known as “Mad King Ludwig”
Moniz can surely return to his parental homeland of the Azores. Where will those Americans who have been in America for over 150 years and have no place to return to go? Where will the blacks and whites of South Carolina who have been in the area for hundreds of years go? Some were in Bermuda even earlier. They have got no place else to go home to! A tender hearted west Africa might take the blacks back, but the cruel UK, which deported the whites appears as cruel as ever. Those with American Indian ancestry certainly have no place to return to! It is their home! Ireland will take few of its natives back; Germany likely none. Will a free, anti-nuclear, Scotland allow right of return to its sons and daughters? Any major Savannah River disaster will fall down upon the UK-Ireland and probably Germany, anyhow. One can only hope that if there is an accident at Savannah River site that the heavens open and it pours rain down (along with the radionuclides) over MIT and certain parts of DC, as the radioactive cloud passes over. The heavens can also pour radioactive rain down upon certain people in Berlin.
This particular import of a failed Pebble Bed Reactor is probably an attempt for Moniz and his buddies at MIT to do research on the pebbles – it is said that the US knows what to do with them but listening more closely, they have only a hypothesis, and will let German and maybe US taxpayers pay for their experimentation. Most nuclear accidents appear to have been experiments gone wrong. This still could even be the case for WIPP. Not surprising, as those who do nuclear seem the same sorts that pull the legs off of living bugs as young boys: cruel and heartless, and because they can. Obama-Moniz probably also hope to get information and transfer it to their nuclear industry buddies to better foist the Pebble Bed concept, which already failed in Germany, upon an unsuspecting American and perhaps world public. There you go! Doesn’t take long to figure out the lazy, crazy, intellectual machinations of the nuclear lobby! Always trying to revive failed projects, it seems, and foist it on the public as if new. No innovation:
“Researchers at MIT and Tsinghua University in Beijing will be collaborating on the development of a pebble-bed nuclear reactor, thanks to a recent international agreement between the US Department of Energy and the China Atomic Energy Authority. With its novel, small-size, modular design, the pebble-bed reactor could become a cost-competitive, meltdown- proof alternative to today’s commercial nuclear power plants.” https://mitei.mit.edu/system/files/2003-12-energy-environment.pdf If it’s meltdown proof, as they allege, how is it supposedly the most strontium contaminated in the world? How did the site itself get contaminated?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AVR_reactor
Obama probably figures the winds won’t get him in Chicago and Moniz probably can return to his parent’s home of the Azores Islands. Moniz appears the mad professor, but probably just doesn’t give a damn about his adopted homeland, for any disaster from Savannah River will fall splat upon his adopted home of Massachusetts.
Obama appears sane but must be mad! Perhaps he and Moniz both think they will escape to China! But, they missed the part that while western China was little touched by Fukushima, it would have been very badly hit by Russia’s nuclear program! Have we been tricked into thinking that MIT means Massachusetts Institute of Technology? Does it really signify German MIT meaning “with”, i.e. lock-step with Germany? One cannot but wonder!
Stanford and MIT appear the root of much of the evil.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Note that URENCO is 1/3rd owned by German corporations (the other 2/3rds being the UK and Dutch governments). URENCO is currently the ONLY company enriching uranium for fuel in the USA. URENCO has around 30% of the world market for enrichment. (A state-owned Russian co. has about 1/2 of the enrichment market). This hardly constitutes German industry leaving nuclear. On the contrary, they enrich 10% of uranium for the nuclear power industry world-wide. Let’s not confuse current German government policy – intent to leave nuclear, not yet done, with corporate policy. Additionally, intent to leave nuclear does not give a license to dump on others. Germany needs to grow up! Obama needs to find where his brain ran off to! The US and other countries should consider if those who have the right of return to their homeland should be allowed in government. How can those who can opt out and return home be committed to what is best for their adopted home? Something is wrong that some can migrate and destroy their adopted homes and then reverse migrate, leaving others abandoned in the mess made!
