Radiation Free Lakeland at Heysham Fukushima Vigil 2014
Radiation Free Lakeland were one of the groups invited to attend the Fukushima Vigil at Heysham Nuclear plant. Saturday March 8th was sunny and windy with a real atmosphere of camaraderie in our determination to stop new nuclear, new waste and new weapons. Flags flew and drums sounded out to remember the victims of the ongoing disaster at Fukushima.
The day was organised by Lancaster architect Mo Kelly who using the surveying tools of her trade as an architect measured the levels at which the sea is predicted to rise up to 2100. Sobering was the thought that the children at the vigil would be around to see the waves overtaking the existing nuclear plant.
