The Ongoing Saga 4:  News, Updates, Tidbits & Trivia

Greenpeace activists aboard inflatables hold banners reading: Get Out Of The Arctic, Save The Arctic & #FreeTheArctic30; and follow the Esimit Europa 2 as it nears the finish of the Barcolana Regatta in Trieste, to protest against the competitions main sponsor Gazprom.

Greenpeace demands that Russian state-owned company Gazprom cease their high-risk oil exploration in the Arctic. The protesters also repeated demands for the release of the 28 Greenpeace International activists, as well as a freelance photographer and a freelance videographer, currently on remand, charged by the Russian authorities with piracy punishable for up to 15 years in prison. Greenpeace insists the charge is not valid under international law.
